He does have a connection to a former farm team of Vancouver. In the 2008-09 season, Dallas didn’t have a farm team, so Sawada was loaned to the Manitoba Moose.
That season he played 52 games with the Moose, putting up 6 goals and 21 assists. In the playoffs, he recorded 4 goals and 4 assists as the Moose went all the way to the Calder Cup finals. Unfortunately they lost to Hershey in 6 games.
Sad to hear of his passing.

Ah shit. I briefly went to school with the guy. Wasn’t close with him but when I did chat with him he seemed like a nice dude. Really sad to hear this and another reminder to cherish every minute.
Horrible, know a few of the guys he was playing against at that game on Monday. It was devastating. Feel for his family 😢
