Well with that, the Pittsburgh Penguins have officially missed the playoffs for the first time in 17 years. The Washington Capitals have also missed for the first time in 9 years, and their last time before that was 7 years prior. This means that, for the first time since their rookie season, Ovi and Crosby have both missed the playoffs. But the question still remains: was this just a fluke, or could this be marking the end of an era? Regardless, while I am ready to see new teams dominating after seeing them dominate for so long, I definitely feel for both of those guys. Hell of a run they've both had, and their careers aren't over yet!
