This is Jets broadcast for those interested. Their fans were treated to Hartman committing pre mediated murder. Not Avenues broadcast level of bad but nonsense all the same.

Also, they were targeting Kaprizov, Hartman did the right thing stepping in.

    Edit:

Act a bitch and pay. In the case of Winnipeg apparently cry like a bitch too.

    A clean hit on Kaprizov?

Puck isn’t in play, Kaprizov is skating backwards and doesn’t suspect contact, potentially into the boards head first.

But sure Winnipeg we’ll call that clean.

    Hartman did the right thing.

Bro was charging and got what he deserved. Good on Hartman

Don’t even care if it was dirty. Had it coming.

I’ve only seen it slow-mo before this. 97 hit luckily wasn’t damaging, but a little late

38: Interference? Probably if you call it by the books, but the full speed video brings things into a more realistic perspective. Ehlers was carving ice, at that speed any one sided hit is going to be trouble for someone. Maybe not squeaky clean, but not suspension worthy in my opinion. Give a double minor4 if you think it’s too much, especially since hearings happen after the game and this game offered quite a bit of context

« Clean, no big deal, that’s a good job by Ehlers »

Why did you cut out kaprizov with the puck. Based on this clip I have to assume he has it just prior to coming in to frame. Clean hit with the context of the actual play with the puck. Kaprizov still has possession here.

    « that’s premeditated »

when is a hit not premeditated ??

  8. responsiblefornothin

Careful, folks, we’re getting the reputation of a deplorable fan base for pointing out that « clean, no big deal » late hit on our best player over at r/hockey. Wouldn’t want anyone thinking we’re Hartman apologists.

  9. blow_zephyr

Good job Hartzy. Fuck around with KK97 and find out.

  10. McBugman

I can watch this on repeat for hours, than you OP

I bet Hartman does this every time for a 1 game suspension. Not the cleanest play, but that was at least the second time the jets tried some dirty shit against Kap. Don’t act like a victim if you don’t play clean.

  12. jsauce22

    Shouldn’t have been a suspension

  13. DailySHRED

Judging by the /r/hockey thread and even threads in our subreddit I must be in the minority that think Hartman’s check was clean. The commenters in the /r/hockey thread were acting like he got away with murder. Give me a break…

Ehlers was skating directly toward Hartman to play the puck and he didn’t change direction. I’d call it inference if Hartman made the pass and took 1-3 strides towards Ehlers’ skating lane, but he literally just stopped dead in his tracks and delivered a reverse hit a half-second after his one-touch pass. Every game you see players “finishing a check” seconds after the puck is released. I see nothing different with this hit.

Shocked that that is a suspension, 2 minute minor I guess but jeez. Just glad Wild still have a game left that he’s not suspended for a playoff game.

  15. Prudent_Medium_6409

Thank god we finally have a team that sticks up for one another. Take your well deserved day off hartsy, you earned it.

  16. wildskater96

That’s a clear cut dangerous interference by Hartman and any NHLer knows it. Clam down fans. It’s a 1 game suspension and game 82 doesn’t matter if we win or lose.

  17. Rhysing

I personally have no problem with throwing a reverse hit on a guy that is going to hit you within half a second of you having had possession of the puck.

Was it interference? No, not really. Within half a second of puck touch.

Was it a bad hit, or to the head? No, not at all.

So, what does that leave us? A devastating, but clean hit.

  18. Nibbler1999

Dayyumm. Gotta keep your head up kid.

Definitely not clean, interference, but I don’t see this as super dirty. Just a big hit at the right time looks huge.

  19. I have a feeling that Ehlers would have made some sort of contact with Hartzy no matter what he did to draw a penalty – seemed like the “premeditation” runs both ways here.

  20. Deloin_Showerhandle

I mean, the hit on kap came later than Hartman’s on ehlers so I don’t really understand the issue here honestly. I keep reading threads where people are split on the ruling but like to me this is just a physical hockey play. I’d feel the same if it happened to a wild player. Kinda shocked by the mixed response
