It really seemed like the team wanted to give Ned more time here in the final weeks. I hope it’s a sign they’re willing to stick with him. I don’t see the point in trying to scrounge up a backup in free agency.

Pretty sure league average was below .900

Jimmy Howard is under-appreciated

Chris Osgood was at least still decent enough in the postseason

Clearly playing Brazilian soccer on ice.
Who needs defense when you can score goals instead?

As long as Husso bounces back next year its okay. Also I swear it felt like Ned played a lot more games.

Husso is a solid tendy. His stat line doesn’t change that for me. Considering the way the team played after the west coast swing he was getting too much work and not enough help.
Hellberg was never sold as a stud but as a workable backup.

Wings can’t score, and they can’t stop shots. Yet we finished with a better record then last year despite playing better competition. There is only one explanation for that…

The game has changed. And the Wings abandoned backchecking for forechecking this year. Not a surprise. Husso was hung out to dry.

Not enough Jonathan Bernier love here. .910 or so on some truly dogshit teams

Is this what we’re gonna do now? « We sucked, the sky is falling, we had no saving grace in spite of the fact there were several positives coming out of the season? »

I think it’s maybe not the goalies’ fault…

I feel like context is important: This is the highest scoring season since 1993-94. Also, the league-wide SV% is around .904 this year (which is also at the lowest since 2005-06), so I think we can put down the pitchforks. Sure, they’re below average, but not by a concerning amount.
