I think that him not wearing the jersey was more to satisfy his parents then it was a personal choice.

My gay 2 cents on this is that Russian players have the same concerns gay people have in some countries. Being vocal can get you in a lot of trouble. Raising awareness in a safe manner is important, him wearing a rainbow jersey isn’t more important than the safety of his family. I know on paper the punishment for breaking their anti gay laws is a fine, but Russia aren’t known for sticking to their own rules
