It looks like OP posted an AMP link. These should load faster, but AMP is controversial because of [concerns over privacy and the Open Web](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmputatorBot/comments/ehrq3z/why_did_i_build_amputatorbot).

Yeah, add him to the list of big names the Rangers almost acquired…

**Gordie Howe** — Initially scouted by us and signed to a tryout as a 15yo, he was intimidated by New York, apparently was teased by the vets, and went back to Canada.

**Red Kelly** — Acquired in a trade with Detroit, he instead retired. Toronto later convinced him to unretire, and helped them win four Cups in seven years, including their last one in 1967.

**Johnny Bucyk** — GM Emile Francis had a handshake deal in place with the Bruins, but the owner shot it down.

**Bernie Parent** — Francis made a solid offer to Toronto, who owned Parent’s rights at the time, but Parent’s Philly-based agent convinced him to return to Philly.

**Eric Lindros** (as a rookie) — Good thing this one didn’t work out. Unlikely we win the Cup in 94, and a healthy Lindros in the prime of his career only made one Finals appearance with the Flyers.

**Brett Hull** — After Keenan bolting for St Louis, the league stepped in to mediate compensation. The Blues offered Hull, but the Rangers instead took Nedved for Esa Tikkanen and Doug Lidster.

**Joe Sakic** — Signed to an offer sheet by Neil Smith, matched by Colorado. Smith was then instructed by one of the then owners to offer sheet Paul Kariya, but he refused.

The crazier bit to me is that they could have traded Lacavelier for Price. How many cups would they have had?
