Even without making any major changes, I would expect the Flames to make the playoffs next season. While they still would have been underperforming, the entire season was full of statistical anomalies, there will likely be a regression to the mean, and this should push them over the playoff line.

I've noticed every goalie after Luongo who left Vancouver had a drop-off to their play. Schneider, Lack, Markstrom, okay small sample size. I think the Canucks went from being a goalie graveyard to a great place to play goal somewhere along the way. Maybe they have a great goalie coach? Who also has input into team structure and which shots to allow and which to prevent? Just a guess.

Not sure if you heard but about 30 minutes ago the team and Brad decided to part ways so yeah that’s gonna be interesting. I really hope the team can bounce back, I love the boys!
If you threw out OT & SO points, Calgary had 1 more point (in regulation) than Winnipeg (86 to 85). The extra points given out for losing in overtime or winning in a shootout has really messed-up the perception of how good or bad teams actually are.
