@Maple Leafs de Toronto

[Johnston] Rasmus Sandin assiste à l’entraînement des Leafs d’aujourd’hui avec des amis suédois. Échangé à Washington à la date limite, il dit qu’il est de retour à Toronto pour « emballer ma merde ».

    With the state of the Caps right now, there may be a lot of sand-in his future

    I liked Sandman, but if we pass the first round I’m down. 19 gp, 3 g, 12 a, 15 pts is great production and I’m happy for him, but he is also a -7. I know +/- isn’t everyone’s favourite stat but for defense I find it more useful. Just saying he was a +10 in Toronto playing safe minutes. He can score off the powerplay but his 5v5 suffers in top line minutes.

    The decision goes beyond just on ice performance. It’s how much value you’re getting out of the player at a position and the opportunity cost that comes with that player.

    If getting rid of Mo means we keep ROR, Accari, Kampf, and Bunting…Well I do that all day. We had someone who may eventually play up to Rielly’s level while being cost controlled and we added a lot of other pieces at D…

    After considering opportunity cost I do think trading Sandin was the wrong long term decision. But the reality is the leafs are trying to win now. Unfortunately the payment for that is usually future competitiveness.

    I am still on the fence. Time will tell.

  4. Sandman Died for this! Do it for him!
