I’ll edit some commentary into this comment but the overall tally is 14 Execs and Coaches picked Toronto to win, 4 picked Tampa Bay to win.
This is especially interesting because of how divided the voting was last year.
Not getting my hopes up though 🤪
Coach #1:
> I think Toronto wins the series. They have learned to play much more of a winning brand of hockey, more complete. They looked different last year when they lost to Tampa in the playoffs, and I thought they turned the corner. Plus, losing (Tanner) Jeannot really hurts Tampa. I think it goes seven and Toronto wins. Playing them this year was a lot more difficult than (in) previous years, and I don’t think Sheldon (Keefe) gets enough credit.
Coach #4:
> (I’m picking) Toronto. Because I think a big step in the playoffs is (the) battle scar and urgency to win. I think the key moment for Tampa is when it lost against Columbus and were expecting to win. After that, they came back with the urgency.
> Same for Colorado. When they lost against Vegas, they were stunned. That sparked their urgency. It’s what they needed.
Exec #4:
> I believe Toronto will win this series.
> This time around, they got this. Over the last few years, I do think they have learned from all those hard lessons. I do believe their top guys are gonna be good. Bringing in O’Reilly is huge. His playoff intangibles will play a major part when Tampa starts doing its thing. Acciari’s grit will also be valuable as the series moves along.
> Toronto’s goaltending does not need to outperform (Andrei) Vasilevskiy but will need to try to stay level with him. Tampa may not be totally healthy.

I think the best way to put it, Tampa are them dudes until they’re not.
The Leafs are not them dudes until they are.
That’s my biggest fear in this series. If them dudes show up, we’re gonna have a bad time.

Too many picking the leafs, they’re going to end up choking. The evidence for a leafs win means nothing when it comes to this team.

Tampa on the ropes in 5, KO’d in 6.

I’m gonna flip the mentality around and say Leaf’s have for the most part over the last stretch of 6 years (failed 1st rounds) that we were the underdog with the slight exceptions of Montreal series or Columbus and even then, no one predicted those results and how these teams fared in that post season.
Even last years matchup against Tampa, most were saying Tampa has the edge. I would say Toronto is the favourite this time and maybe, just maybe that’s what the Leafs need. To be the favourite but against a good, seasoned team that has had recent success as we all know how Leafs fare against opponents below us and how we mostly do with the good teams.
After-all, every time Sakic won the cup, Shanahan always wins the season after 🙂

Last year. Tampa was better. Wasn’t even mad. This year. We’re better no questions asked on paper. On Paper. But a crazy man once said “To be the man, you gotta beat the man.” Gonna be a wild 12 days or so. Hold onto your memes if you’re not a Leaf fan I guess.

Remember when Lebrun went to rival coaches and execs to break down what the leafs should and will be doing at the deadline?
Remember how none of them were correct.
Yeah, same ish.
All of these stupid takes (especially by Sportsnet) guessing what the outcome will be are completely useless and our time is better spent getting beers, hard liquor and snacks ready for tomorrow.

Wait? what’s that the office folks off the league didn’t all pick Tampax to fuck with us? Shocker.
