You don't have to be physical to be an elite defensemen in my opinion but it definitely helps. There are plenty of D men throughout the history of the NHL that were not physical but were still good defensively. Colton Parayko is not physical and his positioning on the ice is horrible. You can't be both. Decision making with the puck is not bad, but he still turns the puck over too much in his own end as well. I think playing with a responsible puck handling defensive defensemen will help this guy a lot. In the NHL systems matter! Jim Montgomery the Boston Bruins head coach has proven this. Getting a good defense coach I think would help a lot of guys on the Blues with Parayko being the number one in my opinion. I think in the right situation, this guy can still be an elite defensemen. The Blues haven't miss the playoffs in back to back seasons in a number of years. If this nucleus and core group misses the playoffs next year, they'll all be gone including head coach Craig Berube in my opinion.

Seems a bit jittery. Let your instincts take over and don't think. In some things, thinking gets in the way of effective play.
