@Sharks de San José

1. Brodie is right – there are much more pressing issues, like trying to secure last place, even if the odds are against it. The Sharks should do everything they can to stay at 60 pts. The Leafs are using University and PTO amateur goalies due to cap issues – the Sharks should be doing the same. Load manage EK65, Hertl and Couture! Last place was theirs two weeks ago but they blew it. Miraculously they still have a slim chance, but CBJ has to win out which is unlikely.

  2. As I have aged, pushing 60, my "hate" for teams of years past, has subsided. BUT, I DESPISE the Golden Knights! 🤬I am sorry, the rules prior to their expansion draft were "modified" by the NHL, in my opinion, to field a competitive team from the go for those "fans" in Vegas. The Sharks certainly did not reap from those expansion rules with their inception. Going to the Stanley Cup finals in a team's inaugural year is wrong.

  3. I will never never ever be happy if the Golden Knights won the Cup I detest them and will root against them in the playoffs

  4. Gosh I hope you read this. A few months ago you mentioned something in passing, and dangit I haven't stopped thinking about it.

You said you wish you could with with Shannon, They Hockey Guy, in polishing his channel. Please man, do reach out to him. I see a few things on this channel that can be improved upon and some apparent parameters/needs. Before I lay it out I want to state that his strengths are phenomenal: passion, consistency, work ethic, and a consistent brand.

Anyway, here are some apparent facts and needs:

    1. Shooting Hip Level / Medium
    2. Whiteboards are his non-negociable brand, and writing size can't easily be changed.
    3. Time is by far his limited resource: therefore minimal post-processing; mostly single takes. He also spends time moderating his comment section.
    4. no large microphones in the shot – lapel / lav mics likely fine
    5. Busy background is part of his brand (but we'll get to that later)
    6. His views tanked when he started making photoshopped thumbnails

    Where he can improve:

    i) the lowest hanging fruit is his lighting, and I don't need to say much because you know more than I. He's got shadows everywhere, balances can be improved upon, etc.

ii) His workload is too high and unsustainable in the long term, specifically that his busy nights (anything more than 8 games really) are too much for one guy to do over a 7-month season. Help find him a video editor even if its just to offload timestamps. It's a way for him to dip his toe perhaps. I'm certain there are plenty of passionate night own fans who could consistently assist him with this. He's mentioned more than once on his channel that insufficient sleep affects his work and income. He spends time moderating his comment section; having a moderator just to remove bullying comments would help.

iii) Upgrade from what I think is a boom microphone. The jerseys in the back are great sound absorbers, but I think he needs more damping in the rest of his garage studio.

iv) upgrade to a consistent 60 frames per second

    v) your time to shine and a lot of work here: selecting more appropriate lens(es)! I feel a reduced aperture will assist in reducing some background clutter. This might be dictated by whether he demands viewers be able to identify jerseys by their shoulder logos (hartford whalers etc). I think a good measurable outcome here is to make sure viewers can still tell the picture behind him is of his lord and saviour Gary Bettman, while having more contrasted focus on Shannon and his board.

vi) Visual de-cluttering. Having his rabbits and cats in the shots are part of his brand, and that's fine. However, he sometimes has empty cage(s) on the floor around him. In a recent video I saw an empty cardboard box w a plastic bag, the bottom of a prop stanley cup on the floor etc. it detracts from the video.

If anything, more than the actual A&V, I think it's likely worth analyzing his method and process. Literally watch him do his work on a 16-game night. how many screens does he watch, how does he take his notes? Is his whiteboard flat on a table , or does he write while it's on the easel? Will that lead to a wrist injury down the road? I mean SERIOUSLY look at the ergonomics of his day-to-day.

Peace out brother. I hope we can help our boy Shannon have it a bit easier.
