First game of the 2022/2023 playoffs for the Oilers. There were a LOT of hits in this game. There were also way too many Oilers penalties including a monumentally foolish one by Evan Bouchard (high sticking) with less than 2 minutes to play in the 3rd period when the Oilers "were" (past tense) up by one goal. Then we got OT. I wish Bouch's penalty was the only one I had issues with but it isn't. Kane took another foolish one in the 2nd period (with just over 1 minute to play). They didn't score on either of Kane's two penalties in the 2nd but the one near the end of the period could have been avoided (and tripping a minute into a period when you're up by 2, gee, lets have a closer game than we need, again, LA didn't score on that but could have). Ryan's OT goal overturned due to a high stick. Vinny Desharnais with a tripping penalty in OT (not good, really not good) and LA scores to win the first game in Edmonton on a shot by Iafallo. Anze Kopitar with 3 assists and Kempe with 2 goals for LA. Here's hoping they can keep it together next game.

  2. Karma…all this crazy talk of sweep and regular season accomplishments doesn't mean jack sh-t come playoffs.

  3. The refs were iffy, but the Oil were worse in taking 6 dumb penalties. The Oil have to STOP BLOWING LEADS and be able to close out games. They should have learned the lesson 100 yrs ago. But, hey, the Flames GM got fired!

  4. This was by far the best breakdown of the game I've seen from Oiler fans you guys were very unbiased and on point

  5. Oilers still trying to play run and gun hockey in NHL playoffs to cover up for defensive efficiency 🇨🇦🏒🇨🇦🏒

  6. Ionic we thot kings might take some dumb penalties and literary all the Oilers penalties were dumb and undisciplined

  7. You can push the Kings around, this is true. If you've watched the Kings though, they just get up and play their game, and eventually beat you. The Oilers have an incredible PP percentage, but the Kings are way above average on theirs. The Kings are deeper, and have better goaltending. It might not be enough, because the Oilers have the 2 best players in the world, and over time it may just be too much, but just like the Kings didn't want to draw the Oilers in Round 1, the same principal applies to the Oilers. The Oilers would've matched up better against anyone else. The Kings aren't going away easy.

  8. I don't know Canada very well, but is Edmonton where the trash lives? Complaining about the Refs no matter what. Throwing things on the ice. Is Edmonton the Philly of Canada?

  9. I enjoyed this analysis, I'll come back after the game tomorrow. Hopefully the series doesn't get tied up tomorrow night, I would also like to see the series end in 4. 😀

  10. "You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something_your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life." _Steve Jobs

  11. While Detroit was winning Cups in late 90's to early 2000's, they were highly praised for being a team that never took dumb penalties!!! As we saw in Game 1, dumb penalties cost Oilers the game!!!✌🤨
