  1. Even if he was the problem, what could you guys do about it? I don't think any of you are prepared to sit out a few games to send a strong message.

So long as you keep filling seats, he keeps making money, nothing changes.

Oh, and you guys went and elected a hardcore communist who tried to fuck the guy and ended up sabotaging the construction of your new arena. I'm sure that left him feeling just peachy.

  2. And just think, the owner potentially burned down his own chair lift in Kimberley for the insurance money…. skipped the country for taxes and no one, in any company, likes working for him including his last wife!

  3. Murray Edwards re-hiring Darryl Sutter back into the Flames organization is akin to John Dutton running for Montana governor in Yellowstone. In the end, he was only changing the laws and policies just to feather his own nest and preserve his ranch from being changed and taken over by developers.

Sutter is Edwards' version of the ranch. Or it can be the other way around where Sutter agreed to come back to coach if he had to give Edwards some of his ranch.

The point being, both Edwards and Sutter have an alliance formed and want to maintain absolute power on how the Flames are run. They want to preserve the good ol' country boys' club and stick to the old traditional ways of hockey like Sutton wants to keep the tradition of his ranch in tact. All while still playing things safe in their business practices and making a conservative and safe profit during the season. Playoffs would be a bonus for revenue.
The way this regime of ownership conducted business were just occasional quiet murmurs once in awhile during the Flames end of season if they missed the playoffs. Now those rumblings have gotten louder and louder over time and now, after this tumultuous season, the rumblings have reached a boiling point.

As the saying goes, adapt…..or perish.

  4. Outside of Detroit and St.Louis, the teams that win the cup pick in the top 5 a few years in a row. So Edmonton, Ottawa, New Jersey, Buffalo etc and whoever lands Bedard will win a cup well before the Flames.

  5. Our arena was delayed because the Flames group lead by Jake Bean dad aka Murray Edwards (who also owns CNRL) didn't want to pay for a concrete sidewalk for fan egress/access to the new arena, thats what I hear. Murray Edwards may be the problem with the flames, he just has a ton of money for the 'media-spin' which we are seeing, but this is an excellent article. Who would be better from an ownership perspective?? Ryan Reynolds.

  6. I’ve never heard a single nice thing or good story about Murray edwards
