Autre option : Eric Tulsky

Iginla?
🌲 was. It’s the out to lunch owner that knows nothing about hockey that wouldn’t let him do his job his way. Where is this owner?! overseas dodging tax bills. Pizza boy looks like an idiot with those signings last summer but he probably didn’t have any choice, Murray Edwards forced it.
Murray Edwards is and always will be the problem with this team. I’ve worked with Edwards in the past. I am not sure the GM matters a whole bunch beyond that.
Probably me
Perhaps not GM because I don’t think he has any front office experience, but I’d love to see Mike Johnson from TSN get a shot in an AGM role. Dude is incredibly smart, knows the ins & outs of the cap, knows the game, knows what it takes to build a locker room.
Internally I like Pascall but give Conroy a nice cushy job as consolation (Head of Player Dev or something else he hasn’t done yet). I like Conroy a lot but for some reason he seems like a light-weight to me. Pascall has done the job at the AHL level and is just as familiar with the market/team/front office as Conroy so it should be a smooth transition. I feel it needs to be done quickly – get set for the draft/July 1st as soon as possible so having someone already in the organization and ready to plug ‘n play works the best.
If the Flames go outside the organization, I like Tulsky.
Jeff Gorton would be my choice. Currently executive VP for Montreal
He was a big part of Boston before moving to the rangers and then also put a lot of pieces in place for them.
i don’t wanna brag, but i came first in my fantasy league, so I would like to nominate myself for the position
I won 25 straight Stanley Cups on NHL 23 with the Flames so I guess I’ll say myself.
Eric Tulsky
Who ever it is, it sure as shit ain’t Sutter.
Will Nault
Eric Tulsky would be perfect, I hope to god Maloney follows through on the whole young, progressive criteria and at least interviews him. I also see Jeff Gorton in this thread and like that idea, as I believe he leaked through kypreos a few months back he wants to be a GM again. Maybe Dubas if those guys aren’t available. I personally don’t think anyone in the org will have what it takes to do the job. What’s really important is we don’t hire hextall, botterill, sutter, or god forbid Fletcher.
Tulsky
Dream scenario is Edwards selling to a Vinik or Illitch type owner with Yzerman becoming the GM.
Actually, if I remember correctly, Yzerman was offered the job at one point but turned it down because he wanted more autonomy than Edwards was willing to give. At least that was the rumor. This was before he went to Tampa Bay.
Trevor Linden.
Sigh. . .
Iggy
Lanny of course!!
Treliving. But let him have a proper chance to tear it ALL down and tank. No pushing to squeak in. No free agents other than for cap floor. Just a few years to do what he does best and draft a future core and sign some amazing RFA deals for a group that can compete in 3-5 years with Mang, Coronato, Pelletier, Wolf, Anderson, Kylington and Hanifin as the senior guys.
Honestly, It depends on whether the owner is willing to let the new GM fire Sutter.
If yes, one of Tulsky, Karmanos, or Gorton would be great.
If not, Futa. Still a solid choice, who works well with Sutter. I think the two would turn this team around.
My preference would be one of the options that involves getting rid of Sutter.
No to Dubas. His obsession with past Soo Greyhounds is annoying and seems to be limiting him.

It seems to me that Conroy is the best option at this pont. What up and coming GM from outside the flames is gonna want being stuck with Edwards, Maloney and Sutter?

All I really care about is that they follow the guidelines Maloney set of the gm being “young and progressive” and that it is an outside hire.
We need a fresh look on the organization. Not someone who is, by and large, going to keep the status quo because he already has relationships with the majority of the teams staff. We need someone who isn’t afraid to clean house, and start fresh, if that’s is truly what is best for the organization. I will be quite disappointed if it’s conroy or pascal. Not because they’re bad at their jobs, but because they won’t be totally objective in their evaluation of the organization.
Havent seen any Craig Conroys yet
Eric Tulsky and nobody else is really close for me
Heart: Conroy
Brain: Tulsky
Dark horse: Mike Gillis
Edit – added Gillis as dark horse
Rhett Warrener is the obvious answer here.
Conroy all day.
It’s going to be Sutter. They just haven’t announced it yet.
K D Lang. She got the best of Murray Edwards’ so she can’t be any less qualified than him.
I have a mad idea but it could work. Instead of hiring one single GM let’s hire a counsel of GM’s. They collectively come up with ideas and democratically vote for and against different moves.
Counsel consists of Lanny, Iggy, Gelinas, Stevey Y and Sakic. If they need a special consult, Kipper is reached by a bird carrier deep in the woods.
Chris Sutter
I would give the job to Craig Conroy in a heartbeat
