Toronto didn’t come to play playoff hockey and it showed. Here’s my 2 cents, if you lose this series, what the hell do you do? Overhaul? Chop off some heads? Leafs have the pieces to go far but they just look flat. Seems like the “grit and tenacity” (referring to the bunting major) got them more penalty minutes with nothing to show for it. It’s only game 1 though, if they lose game 2 I’m not sure they have what it takes to win. Just my thoughts on the matter.
It seems that the Hockey Gods require a Leafs sacrifice.

Yes, the Leafs were outplayed and deserved to lose last night, but McCauley, who shouldn't be refereeing a game where he has a clear conflict of interest, and his crew called phantom penalties when the game was close. But, yet again, officials, unlike most other humans, have zero accountability. And whenever you give someone that much power they abuse it.
This is why I cannot agree with your support of Bettman. He should not be allowing the referees to get in the way of the players. Selfishly, I wanted to see a tight suspenseful game, and McCauley et al ensured that there was no chance of that.
As a leafs fan, I would honestly rather the leafs get swept than lose in game 7 again, that way we never get any false hope.

The Bolts took it easy going into the playoffs. I wonder if they learned the same lesson the Islanders did. Just make it to the playoffs, then turn it on. No point winning the league only to be exhausted. But it is just game one.

What do you think about the Wes McCauley vs Sheldon Keefe situation. For anyone who is not aware, Keefe testified against David Frost, McCauley’s brother-in-law in a sexual misconduct case. Also Leafs playoff record with McCauley reffing, 0-8 including 5 elimination games. Thoughts?

The Leafs didn't show up to start the game then they stopped trying in the third. They are a pathetic bunch crybabies.
The officiating was GARBAGE. That Wes McCauley must never officiate a Leafs game ever again because it's a conflict of interest. He's called bogus penalties against the Leafs and a lot of miscalls. That 🤡 needs to be ejected.
