It's pretty funny that the Canes and Islanders each have their own Sebastian Aho. The Canes' Aho is Finnish and the other Aho is Swedish. Aho of course is a Finnish name.
I don't want to jinx them, but the Canes have two other streaks still active for now – 12 straight home wins in the 1st Round and 7 consecutive playoffs with at least one series win.
Isles might be the most undisciplined team ever
Isles are done. You cant win a cup with 4 grinder lines and almost no star power. The only reason they went on deep runs previously was because of the defensive wizardry of Trotz. They are cooked.
Refs are giving this series to the canes. I'm 100% believe the NHL hates the Isles. We always have to work harder impossible

Islanders offense looks so lost. I picked em to win because of their D and goaltender knowing their offense was weak but i never thought it would be so weak. They cant seem to properly set in the offensive zone. You had a mediocre/ average D and they dont seem to stand a chance after all

REFS FAVORED CAROLINA TODAY WITH REGARD TO ASSESSING PENALTIES AGAINST ISLANDERS. NELSON DID NOTHING WRONG AND RECEIVED A PENALTY WHICH LEADS ME TO BELIEVE THAT IS WHY THE ISLANDERS STOPPED HITTING IN THE 2ND AND 3RD PERIOD.

As an islanders fan I was so happy for the Horvat trade but all I see him now is disgust and the most expensive faceoff winner we needed. He’s severely underperforming and I would like you to make the video about why.

Islanders probably done a Sorokin just was not good enough along with BArzal being a Bust heh. They got shafted in Carolina as really needed least a win on that road. These matinee games are not good for the home team as Jets lost along with Islanders even Florida. Burns was a big move for Hurricanes to get into the next level. Statsny wsa a good signing so they are better but I don't think its enough. Brock Nelson least gave a slim chance helping to get that goal. Least they won the First GAme at the New ARena while KRaken lost heh. Maybe they can win a game or two to make it a 6 or 7 game series. Much like when they had Patrick Flatley they wont win a Cup with BArzal making that kinda money when just holds on the puck can't score etc.
Despite all their injuries, this version of the Hurricanes is the version of the team that can with the cup

Yeah, I don't know if the penalty was really for embellishment or for the fact that he just skated in front of Burns and stuck his ass out. It was a really weird play. I had never seen that before where you pass the puck off and then get right in front of the defender and stick you ass out. I think the call should have been enticement but Burns isn't actually from either of the Carolinas so I don't think that was going to get the response he wanted and instead he got a crosscheck to his back. It was a really weird play.

Next game will face Isles pride and desperation…don’t want to go back on road against this team. Switch to Varly in goal. Barzy was running on fumes. Had nothing today. Long rest will help him.

A lot of people are saying the isles have no star power. Perhaps, but I think their coaching is the big problem. The power-less play is a joke. Everyone in the league knows what they are going to do. Dobson brings it just over the blue line then drops it back for Barzel who skates into an opposing player. When they are on D, every player gives up the blue line. (with the exception of Romanov occasionally) They need an overhaul from the top on down. Time for Lamoriello to retire.

The Islanders strategy of trying to injure every Hurricanes forward seems to have backfired on them. If they had just left poor Teuvo alone, MacKenzie McEachern wouldn't even have been on the roster.
Hopefully man's that took a puck to the throat is out for a while, the least NY deserves after half of the dirty hits they've laid this series, just shows their only chance in hell of winning was to injure Carolina's players. Plus the rat loving "fans" of NY booing while Drury was down on the ice from yet another dirty islanders hit. Fuck em tho… they still going home after round 1 lol
Needed to kill the road monkey on our backs. As long as we don't get caught up in the Islanders thuggery we'll be OK but you can see they are trying to ho there, the Canes don't have the depth to go there with them.

If I am an Isles fan I would be looking at the front office and saying its time for a coaching change ASAP. This coach apparently doesn't care about undisciplined play and it kinda looks like he may even encourage them to be thugs out there. An opposing coach like Brindy knows how to handle his squad in such situations and it shows at end on the scoreboard. If you can't coach and figure a way to win with actually plays turning guys loose and hoping for the best isn't the answer. If I'm Sorokin I'm probably wanting out of this mess – he faced too many power plays. A downright $hitshow for the Isles with this coach.
