  1. its simple and been saying this for awhile Bettman doesnt want a canadian team to win theres always weird calls against canadian teams in the playoffs

  2. Pattern: If there's a call that can go in favor of a Sun Belt team, it will get made.

Refs have also been focused so much on ticky tack stick fouls regardless of whether they impact the play that they miss the more egregious things. I get the fact the sport is better off without the clutching and grabbing that used to go on, but I'm sick of seeing guys get 2 minutes for tripping when they're playing the puck and the puck carrier sees the other stick and dives.

  3. This has been the worst officiating I’ve ever seen. Time and time again Carolina is given PP’s. Barzal gets cross-checked into the boards and he gets a 2 minute embellishing penalty so that Carolina doesn’t go down 2 men. 40+ years I’ve been watching NHL hockey. Without a doubt the worst officiating ever. The NHL should be embarrassed.

  4. what did everybody think of the shorthanded goal from JT Compher and Cale Makar last night?

  5. Speaking of embarrassing..check out Bostons first goal today..A goalies job is to Stop the puck…so the guy stops the puck for close to half hour then the ref says oh its a good goal..Are you nuts? So if you shoot the puck the goalie saves it then send in 3 front end laoders and a small explosives teams theres no way that the goalie made a save..Remember when Toronto got a ( Gillmore,s ) goal called off because of an eighth of an inch of blade was touching the blue crease .wow 😮😢

  6. I find it extremely hard to watch any of the playoff games because of the officiating. The whole season was horrendous and this just keep making NHL one of the hardest sports to watch.

  7. The game has never had more rules and soft plays to make calls on, nor has there ever been more cameras with high definition shots at slow motion than now. I don’t see that the refs are any worse now than before it’s just easier to pick out the mistakes

  8. I think the NHL/Refs are trying to dictate the winners of the series. I wish they would just call the game in a fair, accurate manner and allow the best team to win but that isn't the case. So far with the Avs, Makar got a penalty for being put into a headlock and a too many men on the ice when a player was already on the bench and the incoming was within 5 foot of the bench ( just two examples)

  9. As a Wild fan, I think when our guy gets crushed in front of the net with a cross check and he falls hard the ref should have the balls to call an embellishment penalty or the cross check. The worst cop out in the league when they don't want to give a power play is to only call a legitimate penalty when they can claim embellishment to neutralize the true crime from impacting the game. When someone hits the deck like that someone (1 person) should go off. In this case we could have called for the refs job if the claimed Kaprizov faked being blasted to the ice in front of the net.

  10. Can you add the two calls early in the first period against the Islanders today? It’s really getting to be a joke!

  11. I will say this they are equally bad along all fronts. Unlike the NBA where I see influential calls all the time.

  12. I've been watching NHL games since the 70s, and it's always been the case that there are probably a dozen different rule books applied in any game. Penalties can be called, or not called, depending on who the teams are, who the players involved are, which team got the last penalty, whether the last team on the powerplay scored, what the score is, who got the last goal, what period it is, etc. etc. And in the playoffs, especially overtime? Forget it. If you're lucky, each team gets one penalty in every overtime period. It always drives me crazy that any sport thinks that not calling penalties — and "letting players play" — is a good thing. You're just condoning more penalties at that point.

  13. I’ve noticed refs seem to make weak calls based on the score. Calling a trip where no contact was made to give the team that is down 3-1 a power play. Or a no called high stick to keep the team up 2-1 from getting another goal. Seems to be that way all year.

  14. Refs have become like our modern day police, huge egos and no accountability. These guys can scream and use profanity towards players and if the player so much as hurts the refs feelings, he’s penalized.

Then you have refs being buddy buddy with certain players, trying to be cool. They need to shut up, get out of the way and call the rule book.
Technological advancements could very well replace some of them. (Or at least get them off the ice.)

  15. I’ve learned that the reason why every playoff series is best out of 7 is so that a given team can bounce back from a blown call by the refs.

  16. This has been a long time coming as the referees have been getting worst every year. also since the gambling factor has been ramped up there is a great possibility that many are on the take. it got caught in Basketball and it will get caught in Hockey. Time to investigate.

  17. Dont even get me started on the rangers devils game 2, refs completely miss to many men in the ice for the rangers and the devils get a penalty 20 seconds later, then later on the game rangers player elbows a devils player in the face and he falls down rangers player trips over the devils player, tripping call on devils, and they scored in both power plays, to be fair devils playes like shit the first two games but that turned a 1-1 game into a 3-1 game just like that

  18. Watch the first period of the islanders/canes game 4. Can’t tell me the refs didn’t pre-determine who was going to win that game.

  19. Ok get on the Ice and see how fast this game moves around you . Anyone can call a game from TV replay….lmao😂😂😂
