I don't like either team here, so looking from the outside in. Puck was gone, way to late on the hit. Intent to injury, that's a textbook major. These bone head refs need to stop calling ticky tack penalties and call the ones that are putting players in danger of injury. Toronto is definitely part of the problem here too. Any hockey fan can see McCann and Makar thought the puck was in the air coming down and therefore in play. McCann had his head up looking for the puck and Makar played the body. Unfortunately McCann was not in a good position to take a check and got injured which any real hockey fan does not like to see. Both players where playing hockey and Makar didn't actually hit him that hard so he obviously wasn't trying to injure him. Clean shoulder to chest hit

WTF. McCann shoots the puck and skates to the corner and when the play is dead he gets his head throttled into the boards and that's a minor penalty? What is wrong with the NHL?
HOW!? How in the good spirit of hockey is this not an attempt to injure or major penalty at the least? This looks absolutely identical to the play in the 80s Islanders vs Capitals series where after an Islanders goal, one of the Caps players laid a cheap shot like this and separated the shoulder of the Islander player (can’t remember names but this play is infamous)
