The arrogance to count a team out that puts up numbers like the leafs do is the hubirus that allowed the bolts to sink themselves. You said it yourself from your fan perspective and you reflected it in quoting hagel. Listen to the leafs coach get asked about putting the series away on Thursday. He's not, he's saying "there's hard work to be done, we had a night to ride the high of the win, but breakfast this morning before the trip back was quiet as we all rest and prepare to fight Thursday."
The leafs aren't underestimating the bolts. The only path to victory for the bolts is putting aside any moment of contentment.

Did anyone here actually stop to think that all the dismissive attitude towards the Leafs, the "They'll blow a 3-1 lead!", "The Leafs haven't won a series since Shrek was out!" talk is actually what's driving the Leafs this year? Maybe they have had enough of being written off from the word GO. On the other hand, I think we are witnessing the beginning of the Jon Cooper era, he has been a coach for a decade now, several of the key players have been with Cooper since day 1. The Lightning are in cap bind, running deep in the red for several years, and the very long and costly contracts for guys like Kucherov, Vasilevsky, and Sergachev, isn't leaving much for error. One thing they need badly is a good secong string goalie, right now if Vasy is having a bad game, such as game 2 of the final last year, and game 2 of this current series, pulling him and throwing Elliot out there would make games go from deep lacerations to totally bleeding out. The people who still believe the Lightning will come back from this rut and make a super human comeback are the same ones who felt the Buccaneers were going deep, deep, in the playoffs simply because Brady was their QB, nothing else during the season counts, and they won the championships during the past several seasons, so winning this season and every season there after is an automatic guarantee.

McCabe cross checked that player at the end of the second bc the Lightning player shot the puck at Samsonov well after the whistle. Still, dumb penalty, but that's why he did it.

Tampa looked like they ran out of steam. 40 sec shifts felt like a 80 second shift to their legs and it only got worse as the period went on.
This series has been great so far – love watching these two teams battle it out!
-5.11 saves above average after game 4. He was -3 or so before the game. This indicates that he allowed 2 goals where the average goaltender doesn't. Advanced stats aren't everything, but this is what we've seen all year. He's paid to be the difference-maker like he has been for this team up until this year and he hasn't been. If it's 4-1 with 10min left in the game, we win it with Elliot in net. That's what that adv. stat says. I believe it. No way we give up 3 goals in 10minutes with Elliot in net. Vasy has been that bad.

As a TML life fan from Toronto I can honestly say that most TML fans are probably just as shocked what happened as Tampa fans are. Not just Gm4 but Gm3 as well, it seriously looked like a role reversal, Toronto has famously fallen apart like that in crucial playoff series for many years now. Don't worry, if we do happen to get past TBL this year we will most likely revert to our old ways against Boston and choke lol.
