So the Arena will be on Stampede Grounds next to the Saddledome?
bettycrockerinbum
When will they start building the arena and practice facility?

Does the dome get demolished in this plan?

To be honest I love this. Having more of a district around the arena will be great and it’s about time to get moving on this. Like the hotel and new development around there. Hope the area is a jewel of sports in Canada once it’s done.

The shitty part of this is that it sounds like the arena is guaranteed (Edwards gets his bag), but the government is holding the community stuff hostage for the election.
ChinookAB
So who owns the new arena when it is built?
hideyoshisdf
Lol CSEC is paying a grand total of 40 million in upfront costs. That’s wild
avmp629
I’m just glad they’re keeping it downtown, although ticket and concession prices are going to suck now
SomeJerkOddball
Kudos for Zad for still being in town.

Any word on parking for the new center? It’s taking up the spaces where many people park for games currently…
The_Electric_Unicorn
That’s a lot of tax money…

CSEC paying 40m upfront… taxpayers 900m.
What a shitshow. City council got bent

Wonder if the transportation improvements include anything about the greenline.

I didn’t even realize Calgary WASN’T in the rotation for ASG/draft. That’s pretty garbage business by the NHL ngl.
Not that I care much about the ASG these days anyway, but having it here would certainly pipe some interest into attending.
MonkeySailor
City got utterly wrecked in this deal. CSEC only has to contribute 40M upfront in exchange for an almost 900M arena. What a joke.
Phasethedestroyer
How much could Calgary have saved if they just accepted the deal first go around before all the inflation?
