So Aston Reese and Lafferty aren’t good enough to play in the top 6 but Bunting isn’t good enough to play on the 4th line after you play him with Matthews for 2 years. Sounds more like superstition than a smart coaching decision. Why scratch a top 6 20 goal scorer. You won 2 games by the skin of your teeth. That’s like Boston healthy scratching Tyler bertuzzi. Seems like Keefe is being influenced by the media here.
He Bunted himself out of the lineup.
I think Bunting has played well enough to show that he deserves to be in the lineup. However, I agree the risk of putting him in now is bigger than getting him to sit. If the Leafs lose with Bunting in the line up, the fans would torch both him and Keefe, so they're probably waiting until they lose a game with this lineup before letting him get back in.

Bunting plays hard, works hard, but plays with a lot of passion and emotion. A former Leaf named Kadri played much the same as Michael Bunting, with similar outcomes in the playoffs. Nazem Kadri had to learn how to control his passion, as will Bunting to be an effective player.
Tough decision. Bunting could draw a ton of penalties if he can keep his head cool, you KNOW Tampa is coming for him, he either has a chance to draw TONS of penalties or he has the chance to sewer us with more bad penalties. Id put him on 4th line, take Lafferty out hes been invisible.

People keep.saying "they've won three without him, don't mess with what's working" and yes a win is a win which we'll take HOWEVER it's being said like Toronto has actually played good or something. They've played awful overall, these 2 last Ws seem to have people forgetting that fact as if they've been awesome or something. As I said a wins a win yes but no they haven't been very good at all

You risk playing against 10 guys instead of 6 if you add Bunting. The referees alone is a good enough reason for me to keep him out.

It’s a 50/50 split. Keefe made the safe decision. Not a bad play at all. BUT Tampa does not like bunting and coming home down 3-1 in the series they wouldn’t like him even more. Lafferty would have been my choice to sit for bunting.
