As a true ranger fan as much as I dislike the devils I am truly impressed with their speed, also have to hand it to ruff for taking a chance on the 22 yo goalie. It what fantasy world is getting out worked & out muscled by a team full of kids for the 3rd time an acceptable level of effort? Good grief, finish every check, forecheck harder, simple plays, etc. it’s not rocket science. The Kraken are using that formula to beat a faster & more skilled Avs team and it’s working for them.
He clearly is trying to rally his troops. They played 3 rotten games in a row. By saying they played reasonably well…..he accomplishes exactly what he's trying to do with this conversation. First….he shows he's their coach and that regardless of outcome…he has their back. Second….he's actually challenging a veteran playoff team with talent to step to the next level. This Rangers team has far more playoff experience and veteran leadership than does NJ. He believes they will rebound on the brink of elimination. He also knows that the culture of this team suggests they'll perform their best facing elimination. The players know they've played poor hockey all week. He knows they've played the worst 3 games of the season. Essentially….he's showing his confidence in his teams ability by finding little fault in their game because he knows they'll be jumping into fire the rest of the series and he's waiting to see if they answer the bell or if they'll throw in the towel. Clearly he believes they fight to the finish. I absolutely anticipate a win at MSG in game 6. It's a Saturday game and I expect a crowd that will make them feel like they have a power play all night. This series is going 7. The winner will certainly be the better team.

The rangers are not scoring. No matter how great your goaltender is you must score goals. This is a embarrassment. The Rangers are better than this. They stopped playing winning hockey. The rangers dominated the devils the first two games. I’m so disappointed in the Rangers.
I honestly think he is a decent coach. But hes obviously not the answer for the rangers. He is so predictible. Got out coached against tampa bay in the conference final. Same thing happening again this year against the Devils.

He is a bit correct, the Ranger did show up but got outplayed by the Devils. Devils really played this game perfect. Not sure Rangers could do better against that. Rangers roster is not build against Devils. Rangers roster was build for skill, but they somehow derailed that by signing older all stars for no real reason, and now they lack speed against young team like Devils who also has skill. Regular Rangers team would be able to come back. Bunch of random guys may not be able.
