    Additional information from Todd Cordell:

[Timo Meier: 26 shots, 17 HD chances, 2.71 xG, 0 goals. Nico Hischier: 19 shots, 14 HD chances, 2.69 xG, 0 goals. Jesper Bratt: 12 shots, 7 HD chances, 1.72 xG, 0 goals. All three shot at least 12% in the regular season. They’re 0-57 in this series; gotta break through in G7.](https://twitter.com/ToddCordell/status/1652693950191247367)

Devils are getting crap “puck luck” mostly due to Igor being a freak

  3. Mr7three2

I’m fine with Timo not scoring a point as long as he’s playing well and also being a pest. But we really do need the stars to pick it up

  4. JerseyDev93

I’m convinced Igor would rather die than let Timo get a point

Shesterkin having a 7.3 Goals Saved Above Expected probably has something to do with that.

Nevertheless, Hischier/Bratt/Meier have to find the back of the net tomorrow night.

He’s also had legit hood shots it’s not like he’s just peppering shit shots from far out ala the PDB system

  7. Batfleck666

He’ll break through in the 2nd round.

I was shitting on Timo a bit yesterday but yeah he’s just been unlucky

Hughes & Nico I do want more from though. Young 1st overall picks who’ve played like studs all season need to show up for game 7

  9. Sauronsindexfinger

Not a lot of QUALITY shots. How many weak backhands breaking down the right side? He needs to whip some on his strong side.

This is Timo. He gets snake bitten everyone once in awhile and then it seems (to me at least) that he gets stuck in his head. He puts pressure on the opposing teams and gets under their skin, he will get shots on net/goal if they don’t go in someone should be ready to tap in the rebounds. He will turn it around though.

Correct me if I’m wrong as I haven’t been able to watch a lot this series but he has been doing relatively well defensively right? I think he is still being helpful but he definitely needs to start potting some goals. Imagine if even 10% of his SOG this series have gone in.

I personally haven’t seen that many high danger chances from Meier. And that thing where we were all joking about Hughes or Meier who’s going to be the one shooting? Well it’s Hughes. Cause on the power play , that’s who drives the bus.

And lastly, with him anchoring the 3rd line – he draws a lot of presence and Mercer ends up with the shot.

In a general sense, I just think he hasn’t had enough time to find his identity playing for NJ. It took most of our players into the 2nd season under Ruff to really get going. Since acquiring, it’s been nothing but new linemates, playing left AND right , and changing his role in the lineup as well.

If there’s anything to figure out this off season it’s where do the following players belong in our system – Boqvist, Tatar, Sharangovich and Meier.

I’d very happy if Palat – Hughes – Bratt could develop into something scary and take that next step.

Which would mean Hischier could finally have a high scoring winger on his right even if it’s not Bratt on the top line with him.

Idk but Mercer – Hischier – Meier could be our future top line

Tatar I def feel is not getting re-signed. He’s had a good run with us and I really like the leadership he brought. But he hasn’t been a factor in this playoff series, we already have small, skilled wingers and we could use the cap relief.

Sharangovich might not be extended a qo for similar reasons – didn’t contribute to a playoff series, sophomore slump, and we’ve acquired a goal scorer. We might let him go just clear cap tbh

Boqvist I feel is not getting a qo as well. We’ve got centers – Haula, McLeod, Lazar. He hasn’t helped us this series. But he hasn’t been terrible and maybe could perform better in playoffs later. It’s also his first exposure as well. But the ceiling seems like it’s there and the question is do we have enough young blood to replace 4 roster guys (Tatar, Sharangovich, Wood, Boqvist)?

With Holtz a shoe-in on the 3rd line that’s one open roster spot which should be a free agent or trade target. And 2 extra skater spots for 3 guys bw Thompson, Foote and Clarke.

I’ve been telling myself over the last 3-4 games that Timo is going to score a big goal. No better time than Game 7.

    Just means he’s due!!

Sometimes you do everything right and come up with nothing, things will work out eventually this season or next.

Timo passes the eye test but the stats don’t match up so he’s failing the eye test too.

Fitz blew it at he deadline with this guy.

Timo turns it around and gets a hat trick tomorrow 🙂
