Everything this guy says just sounds like bullshit now. I can’t handle him anymore.

« You guys don’t know how hard it is to make the playoffs. »
    – Chevy

    What a fucking putz

Absolutely nothing of substance said, what a waste of time

Yes, it is hard to make the playoffs Chevy. Nobody said it wasn’t.

The issue here is that this is the ceiling for this core and there remains dysfunction and a lack of desire in that group.

Coming back with the same core vs moving on to the next group (Connor, Ehlers, Perfetti, Chaz, Lambo) and building around them will seem like a complete waste of time.

The thing is, it shouldn’t have been as difficult to make the playoffs for us as it was! We were first place in the central and then had a historically bad drop off leading to a late season scramble for a wild card. We should have clinched way sooner and would have been better rested and prepared because of it. Saying it’s hard to make the playoffs is ignoring everything that’s actually wrong. Yes this current roaster can squeak into the playoffs as of right now, but they don’t have what it takes to contend anymore, and isn’t that supposed to be the real goal? Never mind all the expiring contracts that could potentially change the entire look of this team.

Can’t really raise the “tough to make the playoffs”, when we only managed to creep in after our great start was nearly cratered.

I guess we know where the organizational lack of accountability comes from. Hard to expect it from players when you get none from the GM.

My favorite quote I can pull out of it was using the playoff attendance as proof that they can sell tickets. As if the Covid rules didn’t affect anything. Yet he will go back to when they swept the Oilers as proof the team he has now can go deep into the playoffs.

I get that he can’t really about what he’s gonna with the top line guys, but if they turn about face and want out by July 1st, he’s gonna look really dumb.

BTW. The defense has never been the same since the massive exit. I don’t think the guys they have there now are going to help them, either.

Is it just me or should cheveldayoff been a politician? Avoids answering any questions and just talks and talks. Would have for right in on parliament hill.

I can’t imagine as a fan of this team, listening to this press conference and having faith that the future of this team is in good hands.

Chevy is about to become the second longest tenured GM in the league and his resume doesn’t exactly jump off the page. If major changes aren’t made this off-season and he’s kept on for another full season, one has to wonder if a hot seat will ever exist for him.

I can not get beyond a whole team folding in game 5!? I thought Bones was beyond justified in being disappointed and disgusted. Chevy can dance all he wants I hope big changes are coming.

What a joke, I’m tired of hearing the same shit every year. You wonder why you’re losing fans? I can put up with a young team that plays an exciting brand of hockey while rebuilding for the future. Regardless of making the playoffs or not. For example id way rather have a team like Ottawa currently. Einstein once said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again while failing, I’m done with this team until something changes.

  14. MCBbbbuddha

What a waste of time that presser was. To hang your hat on 2018 is the definition of the whole hearted embrace of mediocrity, starting from Chipman. One of the longest tenured GMs has accomplished precisely nothing

  15. goldminer16

Did not like that interview one bit, we are supposed to be grateful for a lot of serious underperformance. This guy is ok with barely making the playoffs, and the Bud Light didn’t get any cheaper.

  16. WatchTheNorthEndDie

Lol, just when I think I might wrong, this guy opens his mouth and I’m like. Yep. He’s the problem. I can’t support this.

I don’t know how anyone can support this guy as our GM. Maybe the Chipmans should focus on an AHL team.

The way Cheveldayoff and the players talked, it’s like they lost an honest to god game 7 leaving it all on the ice and as much as you’d like to win you gave it your all…. They don’t understand why people are upset when you made the playoffs. People aren’t sick and tired of no success in the playoffs, people are sick and tired of all the bullshit and drama with this team.

For the past 4 years, it’s been time and time again, season after season talk about lack of effort. Lack of urgency. Slow starts. They’ve shit the bed in 3 season on the line games now in 4 years. Players have retired over it. Players have been alienated over it. A coach, an NHL coach QUIT over it…. Not fired, quit! Another coach called it out. And now the players and GM are more upset over the boat being rocked and reality rather than their shit performance. And this fool is up there talking like we tried our best, year after year. Absolute insanity. This idiot is up there talking how we’re a D man or Forward away from completing the puzzle…. How can anyone, be so stupid and blind here…. We need top end players who have a standard of play and can function like adults, really.

I don’t pay attention to other teams, like does this insanity and Young and the Restless stuff happen in other places?!
