  1. I think this is comparable to the Brooklyn Nets. A good coach with superstar players who were signed/traded for at their highest point and now they regress and the coach gets canned. Kadri had a huge regression, Huberdeau had a huge regression. Unfortunately, the flames bought high and overpaid and now they are paying for it. They will inevitably have to sell low or let the players walk with nothing to show for it.

  2. As an Oilers fan here I can say that I missed having the battle of Alberta this round 1 of the playoffs. Last year’s battle was phenomenal!!!!

  3. Flames need to go throw money at Bruce Boudreau and go find out where ever Mitch Korn is now and throw money at him to goalie whisper Markstrom back into his form

  4. I'm sure the Flames will find a coach on the merry-go-round select a coach. Sorry the NHL needs some new coaching blood. I always feel like it's pick him or him, or him..just like a merry-go-round.

  5. Worth millions and dont want to work. Ok…players are pussys nowdays.

  6. Flames should bring up Mitch love. He’s won back to back best coach in the ahl. The players love him and rave about him and he knows the young players. He’s out best shot.

  7. Iginla will be the next Coach and Conroy the GM.. two X Flames Captains will run the team..

  8. FUN FACT: In addition to shots per game, the Flames also led the league in total shots hit off the post.

I’m glad Sutter’s gone – even if it was a couple of months overdue – and I hope the Flames’ luck on the ice next year can improve as the locker room does!

(maybe calling up Wranglers’ head coach Mitch Love can help with that?)

  9. I understand why it is the way it is, but I'll echo that I too would prefer the playoffs just be the top 16 teams.

  10. Jesus christ. I blocked Sportsnet so I wouldn't even have to see the cancer that is Steve Dangle show up on my feed. Thanks youtube.

  11. You can't blame the Markstrom for the Calgary missing the playoffs. They got the same quality of goaltending as the Kraken (.895 and .887 for their tandem), better goaltending than LA (.876 and .868 from their tandem before trading for Korpisalo), and better goaltending than what Edmonton got from Campbell (.888).

The Flames problem is that they are the fifth best team in an 8 team division. A good team would have overcome the goaltending issues (LA, SEA, EDM).

  12. Sutter never should've been extended. He BLEW the series against EDM by playing the goaltender with a double GAA against them. He also elected to play a defence first/shutdown style against EDM. Here's a newsflash for you, IT DOESN'T WORK!!! Todd Mclellan might tell you so (probably not).

The only team that's gotten past the Oilers thus far is the Avs (in spectacular fashion). Guess what they did? They blitzed EDM's weak defence, something Calgary DID DO in game 1 against the oilers! It's quite effective, EDM doesn't have a strong defence, it's their only weakness. It's mind boggling that Darryl Sutter got extended after choosing to abandon this playstyle that won them their only game against EDM.

  13. I'm not sure when Sutter crossed the line from gruff no nonsense coach to miserable old man that no one liked but he was well past that line this year.

  14. Coming out now that Sutter didn't practice the power play or 3-on-3 all year. All. Year. Wonder if that had an impact on those OT losses?!?

  15. As a flames fan I feel non of our new additions bought into Sutters system, and the players who have for two years are sick of it when no everyone is buying in.
