  1. Can't stand the leafs, but I think they will pull through. Tampa has blown 2 games in this series and I think the amount of hockey they've played is setting in.

  2. This kind of narrative surrounding the Leafs is absolutely stupid. Gut wrenching? The prevailing thought in a series where you're up 3 games to 1 is that the game 5 loss is not only expected but also easily brushed off. They outplayed the lightning who, by the way, have had so many injuries and so much player turnover that the comparison to those winning teams of the past is frivolous.

  3. this is a new team different from all the others, but with shakey goal tending you know they wont go far. I like Woll better. I dont like Holl…And give Bunts a chance.

  4. If I thought you actually had a point to make I’d watch the entire clip. Not fear mongering… with that headline? Amateur hour…really.

  5. Im a Leafs fan. Just relax guys and keep the TV off. Leafs are done. Game 5 was the game to cut the head of the snake. Now they go to Tampa and pressure is on the Leafs. Once they lose game 6 then they go back to game 7 psychologically defeated. In that state of mind, most teams lose. There's always a next time guys, it's just a sport. Let's relax and breathe.

  6. As a sens fan it truly pains me to see that the last time the leafs won a playoff series was against us

  7. It's very true that the Leafs are still leading and only have to win one versus the fact that Tampa still has to win two. I don't even think the Leafs have lost three straight this year (unless it occurred in October). It's also true that Toronto won two straight games that in years past they would have lost.

Yet, almost nobody thinks Toronto should be favoured to win this series against the battle-hardened serial-winning Lightning. Indeed, it is hard to imagine a scenario under which Toronto loses game six in loud, now very confident, Tampa, and then somehow comes out in game seven able to take control of the match and win.

For that to happen, Samsonov would have to outplay Vasilevskiy in a winner-take-all game, the Leafs third and fourth lines would have to outscore the same lines on Tampa, and the Leafs would likely have to get some calls their way, and then execute on the power play. Also, the Leafs would have to be the better team, which except for game two, and the second half of game four, they have not been.

Perhaps if Boston loses Sunday, the shock of that upset will take some of the attention away from Toronto. I also think that if Tampa does as expected and wins this series, the chances of Matthews staying here becoming even more remote.

  8. Keefe has no breakout game and Reilly, Brodie, Tavares + Kerfoot = Early playoff exit.

  9. I would like to quickly clarify that being a Leafs fan in general is fucking terrifying

  10. Vasy uses artificial intelligence to stop the leafs. Leafs need to change their shooting strategy if they want to score on him. Vasy plays every game and every minute so his brain can decipher the scorers on the leafs.

  11. Going into this game, I was saying – as I said back in 2021, when the Leafs were in the same position – 'If they do not close this out in game 5, it's going to 7. If it goes to 7, they will lose.' Then they lost game 5, and I was like yup, here we go again. But this Maple Leafs team really did have something no other Maple Leafs team has had since 2004. Heart. Will they go all the way? If we're being honest with ourselves, it's unlikely. But most people, myself included, have this team automatically written off every year, and this time they stepped up and proved, they really are different.
