  1. It doesn’t matter how long draft picks take when this franchise has been retooling for over a decade we don’t even know what it is to be leaving a rebuild cause everytime we get better it’s a pooched season soooo put this retool shit in your pocket nobody cares unless rebuild is announced and followed for atleast 5 years this is sad cheers to another 50 years of failure

  2. This rebuild that Don, Drance, and every Canucks fan 12 years old and younger wants does not lineup with Petey, Hughes and Demko's window.

How does this all work, Donnie? Do we languish in the lottery teams and COMPLETELY WASTE Pettersson's, Hughes', and Demko's prime years?

What exactly do you people want? Pick one and stop whining and pissing your pants everytime we trade for anything other than a pick. Donnie wants to wait another 8 years to be competitive? Explain how that works? You want this team to be shit for 20 years+? Are you kidding me?

Did we overpay. Fuck no. That's the market, How many other Top4 RHD cost controlled and RFA are available?

Deal with it, get a new pair of pants, and stop fucking whining. You're grown men, FFS.

  3. Why is nobody mentioning the fact that petey will walk if there are no steps in the right direction. All the people wining about the trade should be ok with them trading Petey next year at the deadline.

  4. Shannon seems to forget this guy was second round pick something we havent had in years tbis team will still be a bottom feeder next year hes not changing it

  5. Hronek needed to be done now. In the summer 4 or 5 extra teams would be bidding

  6. The #17 I can think of for the Canucks is the late Vlad Krutov (RIP)… The poor guy never adapted to the North American way of life… imagine if he was able to how he and Larionov, along with Bure that came later, would have been for the Canucks…

  7. If we can Trade JT and get another 1st rounder I dont mind this Deal. 1 More Top 4 R D and this Team is SOOOO Much Better. Keep Demko get a Stud in the Draft we can be Fine. The Key imo Trade JT BROCK . Myers is gone soon.

  8. I don’t like trade, seems like a good player but it tells me PA and JR don’t see themselves lasting 4-5 years here without a competitive team. That comes to the owner demanding a competitive team year in and year out, not a cup contending, go for it team when close (longer time frame) and rebuilding now in short term.

  9. John can say Boston is insanely deep but if Pasta or Ullmark get hurt that team folds vs any team in the playoffs.

  10. 27th place and you trade a 1st and 2nd round pick from one of the strongest drafts in years for a guy with an arm in a sling. why trade boeser? why trade miller? you aren't going to get anyone better points-wise and if aquilini will be happy with 2 home playoff games, keep them. maybe they'll make the playoffs next year….

  11. A voice of reason from van media? how refreshing! John is always spot on! Seriously what did you expect? complete rebuild? That doesn't start until trading Petterson, Hughes, and Demko. As long as we have those 3, building the team around them is what we should be expecting.

  12. RIP Bobby Schmautz Canucks sniper. Led the team in goals and fought every heavyweight in the NHL….at 155 lbs !!!

  13. John maybe doesn't have the charisma of Drance (lol) but he sure has the brains of intelligent nhl experience

  14. Got got chychrun for same price he has a big bomb of a shot and much more offence canucks need a big shot d man

  15. Crock of shit, canucks tryin to be the first team ever in the cap era to win a cup without building thru the draft 😂😂😂. This is not a serious team. They’re just trying to get some playoff revenue, that’s it. Fucking disgrace.

  16. As a DRW fan that I am, it's extra fun to hear factual media from Van. Overpaying Van for Hronek, No not according to your organization. I wouldn't do the same thing as I don't think you are in an emergency today when there are only hours left on TDL. Strengthening the team will Hronek do, I think he will quite simply become one of your top 4 defenders but not more than that. He has 0 Elite qualities in his body and he probably has his peak here.

Is there more to squeeze out of Hronek, of course there may be that opportunity. From what I've seen, I don't see him having it in DRW, as he hasn't managed to play a solid defensive game over the entire 200ft here, although nobody in DRW has that today. Van has a lot to work with when it comes to Hronek and what you want to get out of him.

The return of the trade was a 1st and 2nd round pick for an injured player who arguably had one of his best seasons statistically as a two-way defender. But as I see it, he has a lot to work on.

But when it comes to picks, I don't really understand that you "give away" this 1st pick as it is only protected to a certain extent and the pick could very well apply to end up for the 23/24 draft and then it have no restrictions at all.

DRW has 5, 1st rounds picks the next 3 years drafts, and most of us know that the next two drafts alone are deep.

If we only look at this year's draft, the depth is solid down to the 20-30 spots. We also know that DRW never ever has luck with the draws.

So I predict that S.Y will use some choice in a bigger deal shortly or already know today which promising talents they will pick in this year's draft class in the middle of the first round.

DRW is still several years away from being a solid playoff team.
Van helpt us and I have to say thx for that. I certainly hope that your organization and its fanbase will be happy with your part of the deal because I as a DRW fan, am very happy with it.

  17. Ownership did this trade tired of there retooling on the fly, tear it down rebuild

  18. Bobby Schmautz hit 30 goals once and had 271 NHL goals. Not ‘one of the greatest snipers of all time.’

  19. As a longtime (1970) Canucks fan, all I can say is "How soon they forget." …. Joulevi, Virtanen, Shinkaruk, Gaunce, Jensen, White, etc. … all past Canuck 1st round draftees that did zero or damn little in the NHL. The ex-Islander 1st round pick will probably end up as a 13th to 21st pick this year, and with ZERO guarantee that player will ever develop into an NHL player, let alone the next Hughes, Pettersson or Horvat. Take the established 25yr old RD you need now and you run a much smaller risk.

  20. Fans love the actual team and players too much to stop supporting them, but the ownership and management definitely deserves being blackballed

  21. Filip is second line RD we need. Any draft pick is two years away before they get to NHL level. Nothing wrong with this move.
Cheers to Owners and GM. Vitali is better than second pick in 2023 again good move.
