U need new Special Teams Coaches. It was atrocious and rumor has it this team defers on practices. If memory serves St Louis worked on PP and PK daily. Pathetic if true
Great season, Wild. I am so sorry your playoff run had to end so soon thanks to a team that cheated and stupid refs.
Love Billy. He will guide us to where we need to be. The guy has played and won at the highest levels. Love to see him pushing back on the media who have never played the game at any high level in their life, but try to push certain narratives and bs. It’s easy to talk about things you don’t actually do.
Imagine the GM or Coach going into the locker room before each game in round 1 and telling the guys, “alright fellas, our goal is not to get to the next round, it’s something bigger.” Like what are you talking about. That’s such a degree of cope it’s insane.

Listening to these two sure makes it crystal clear why the team didn’t get past the first round of the playoffs. Every team has great excuses as to why they didn’t win. Winning teams ignore the excuses that end other teams and just win.

Glad to see fans are slowly realizing what I have said since guerin was hired and then fired boudreau only to replace him with the skinnier grumpier version of boudreau but without the playoff success at any level. Evason needs to be fired. 1-13 in playoff series at any level. Whl, ahl and nhl. He doesn't know how to make adjustments. And what has being grittier gone us? What did acquiring reaves get us? What did acquiring deslauriers get us last year? Absolutely nowhere. It was a failure. Not trying to make it to round 2? Are you just brain dead? Why even try making the playoffs then? There is no reason to get a late first round pick if you aren't trying to win the cup!

Lot's of ignorant comments and questions. Those who see the big picture know these are large and complex issues. All caps are not created equal when you have states that have no income taxes and states where players prefer to play due to climate and quality of live outside of the game. What I hear is a group of people who are trying to do the best they can with what they have and time has shown they are building a program for long term success despite some setbacks that no one can do anything about.
Guerin and the team are in a tough spot for all the reasons we know, but this was not his best day.
Guerin can't say "the plan is to build towards the best team possible for 2025 and in the meantime we may struggle" but I think that's the plan. Gotta try to make these setup seasons interesting though so I guess the media need to act like the expectation is to win a Stanley Cup despite the major dead cap issue.
Blame losing on cap space when you put yourself in that predicament. The goal of every hockey team, every year, is to win the Stanley Cup. If that isn't important to you, then maybe you're in the wrong profession. You put together an amazing team, under the circumstances, and they were built to win now. There needs to be accountability, by everyone. What's the definition of insanity??? At a minimum, Darby needs to go. The whole coaching staff should go, but they keep rewarding mediocrity with long contracts on a cash strapped team. Final thought, Boldy needs to add 20 pounds of muscle or this will define his career. Just another MN sports franchise, over promise and under deliver.

Wow after that news conference its painfully obvious why this team will never make it past the first round. He was already waiting for the "get over the hump" question with a childlike rant. Just pathetic. Say "As an organization we failed miserably."
Dean Evason Head Coaching Career Playoff record (1999-2005, 2012-2018, 2019-2023) is 19-51. Second round playoff exit, 1 season in 16 years. First round playoff exit, 12 seasons out 16 years. Lost in Qualifying Round of NHL in 2020, Did not qualify for the playoffs 2 seasons out of 16 years.
I will not be purchasing any merch, tickets, or following the team until you hire a winner.

The plan to continue the trek with patchwork, good deals and rookies is clear. It's not a bad plan inherently but, when you do it almost entirely through free-agents like Sam Steel instead of injecting as many prospects like Rossi, Beckman, Walker etc into the fold makes ZERO sense. All of the youth were bottom-6 Grinding lines, the Defense once Addison was shunned, looks like Fletcher threw it together.
There's little punch in the roster, every line is a "safe" construction.. one player (Fiala) shouldn't completely gut your offense and structure.

this season was a failure because all it did was prove to us we'll never make it past the first round with the current coaching we have. As many great moves BG has made with players, his moves with coaches are sinking the team and holding those great players hostage. sure now they're eager and love this team now, 2-3 more years of first round exits I doubt they'll feel the same.
