Maybe it’s because I can’t dwell in negativity all summer, but I’m ready to move forward and see what happens. I didn’t like Chevy’s presser and he definitely should have taken more accountability, but endless articles/post bitching about this team when any moves/changes will take time to implement, doesn’t seem like a ton of fun. let’s enjoy the sunshine and wait and see what this team does between now and the trade deadline.

I genuinely don’t think Chevy is the problem so much as it’s Chipman who seems to want to be puppet master. His thinly veiled threat to move the team after ticket sales were down after a bad season doesn’t point to a lot of confidence. For all intents and purposes he’s done a decent job at what he’s good at but I doubt Chipman wants to rebuild right after building true North square and the pandemic seasons.

The fact that they walked back Bones’ roster criticisms in that email is worrisome. I mean, it feels like maybe Bones is gone before next season… which would be even more worrisome because then what Yes Man are they bringing in to replace him…
I get that you have to try and preach positivity to your fans but I think most reasonable fans see the writing on the wall with the current core. Get Helly to a contender and hopefully get some decent prospects for him, trade Scheif, Wheels, and get what you can now for PLD (yikes)… Hell, I’d consider letting KFC go if someone wants to pay a lot for him. Give Ehlers the top line time he deserves, if he’s willing to stick around.

It is really difficult to win in this league, never mind on a consistent basis, and I think Chevy has consistently done a great job with this team.
I think it is also true that things have gone pretty sideways with this team in the last couple of seasons – while we cannot know exactly what is going on in that locker room, it seems delusional to think that the culture is in a good place, even if it has been somehow improved. Coaches and players do not seem to be on the same page, and given that’s the been the case with two coaches in two years, you have to wonder if some of these players aren’t coachable, or if these players know better than the coaches about what’s good for this team (I’m not terribly in favour of the latter possibility at this time). Chevy is as responsible for the culture as anyone, and I hope he realizes the task at hand is to right the ship. I’d like to see more ownership of the team’s reality from Chevy, but as long as he fixes his mistakes, that’s all we really need from him.
None of the star players want to be here for a rebuild, but it’s looking more and more as though this is what will be required from this particular group.

I mean, he’s got a better record than Buffalo, Jets v1.0, and…that’s about it? Sure, he’s a small-market super-genius, but, really, it does feel like maybe there is better out there? Then again, I don’t even have a clue as to who I’d replace him with so there’s that too.

One of my issues with Chevy is that his actions don’t match his words when it come to the core. He says he has faith that this is a core that can win a cup but his moves to boost them are weak af. He made no significant roster adds last offseason. He added nobody during the year. His trade deadline move were decent but were the bare minimum. If he actually had true belief in this core he would aggressively add like the real contenders do.
But he hasn’t. And I’m very glad he hasn’t because this core is flawed. But the fact that he hasn’t invested further in this core tells me he also knows its flawed.
Which then begs the question if he knows its broke why isn’t he doing anything to fix it?
