  1. Perhaps the top seed should have more of an advantage. Start every game a goal up?

  2. Bruins were Never That Good its just Atlantic is a Joke Division unlike Pacific where even the Expansion Teams set records making SCF then SEattle Wins over Colorado Defending Champion. All these people laughed at me when I took Florida Panthers over Scrub Bruins too. Asking me what I'm smoking when I said they would still lose when Florida would not be first team to come back from 3 to 1 down. I thought Islanders had better chance but Bo along with Barzal made sure they lost. Not to mention Sorokin another overrated Russian goalie almost as bad as Igor. Boston just an Original Six team who gets Refs to Rig games giving them calls like that Dive against Florida all those PPs. Only reason it went into OT was NHL making it close for BB haha.

  3. Re: upsets, the North Stars '91 run (pick any of the three series, really) was collectively more monumental than this. As Shannon points out, Florida was last year's PT winners and they've been perennial contenders.

Look at what the 1990-91 North Stars did the two seasons before and the two seasons after. Then consider that in '90-91, they beat the teams with the 1st and 2nd best records and the defending champions— one after the other *and never needed seven games to do it*. It boggles the imagination.

Florida just happened to be the 8 seed in a new competitive format where there are no Snorris teams and a year after they won that same PT. Not the same, even notwithstanding the historic season Boston had. I also feel like Boston pushed hard for the record, which proved to be a mistake.

In terms of which was worse, Tampa or Boston: Boston was the bigger choke per se (because they literally had a five-game series win on the tip of Marchand's stick and then repeatedly let it get away). Tampa's was more shocking because they got outright swept after making Columbus look worse than an 8 seed for the first 10 minutes of the series.

  4. I'm a Habs fan and FUCK the Bruins for not beating Florida, now I have to cheer for the Leafs uggggh. I think Bergeron could play another year but in a much-reduced role, if the B's trade Hall that would help with cap space and draft capital. I believe Boston has ONE more legit run. Coaching backfired as Swayman should have gotten the net with Ullmark injured. If Bergeron does retire though Boston should trade Marchand and Pasta while keeping Hall so their lottery luck is sky high, could end up with Michael Misa, and if Montreal gets lucky and lands Bedard the rivalry would be even more heated.

  5. TBH as soon as that team wasn't getting Venza level goaltending they collapsed. Just show how good Ullmark was this season with Sway being the best back up in the league. Papered over a lot of cracks that lead to being a not so good playoff team. Personally didn't expect them to go to the finals but losing in the 1st round to a bottom seed makes it so this record winning season isnt actually a good season for them

  6. What makes the highs of sports entertainment so great are the lows, and this is a big one

  7. Boston have the most points in 1982-1983 season and lost in 3 round vs New York islanders in 6games

  8. Boston is the most decorated regular season team in nhl history by points and wins that had a 3-1 series lead and choked it away…. What are we talking about like be real

  9. Question, if bergeron and Krejci retire would that not open up cap space or am I missing somthing here?

  10. 100% the Tampa choke was far more humiliating, that section they put in the paper was the cherry on top.

  11. dude….what would you be saying if the bruins would have won it all???…..GREATEST TEAM OF ALL MANKIND!!!!!

  12. I'm old enough to remember the Habs upsetting Orr, Esposito etc in 1971 as well.

  13. The oopsie by Ullmark reminds me a lot of Fleury’s oopsie vs the habs In 2021. It was a turning point for the series both times

  14. I remember when the Sharks won the President's Trophy and lost to the Ducks in the first round. Was it embarrassing? Yes, although I felt a little bit better that the Caps did the same thing the next year. I think that year, we tried too hard to win the President's Trophy, and then just fell flat versus the Ducks (keep in mind, they were only 2 years removed from winning the Stanley Cup). It's been 14 years, so I had to go back and look at the series stats since I couldn't really remember how it went down. Basically, Nabokov played sub-par, and we couldn't solve Jonas Hiller (or the offense evaporated). Although had we won that round, I think we would have lost to the Red Wings in the conference finals–I don't think we would have won the Stanley Cup that year.

  15. They couldn’t handle NJ speed and goaltending, simple as that.

  16. Seattle knocking off the reigning champ has to be on that list of upsets. Avs choked hard, played like trash

  17. Besides their brutal on ice play something was not right and I’m thinking the problem was in the dressing room and management. This was different than last year against Carolina.

  18. If Montgomery truly doesn't regret leaving Ullmark in….then that puts a BIG question mark on his decision making going forward. It's not like they had some EBUG on the bench, after all.

It's gonna be an ugly rest of the decade for the Bruins, it looks like. Good thing they extended Pasta because if he walked this offseason…….

  19. An over-the-hill team rides towards one last hurrah only to get outskated, outworked, and outgritted by a younger, hungrier team. Who'dathunk?

  20. Boston had a 3-1 strangle hold on the series, broke the wins record in a season, and then lost in the 1st round to a Panthers team that only made it in because Pittsburgh graciously fell out of contention for them. Yes, the Bruins just committed the biggest choke in all of sports.

  21. With how good the bruins goaltending is it makes 0 sense not to rotate on losses

  22. This was def the biggest choke job of history bro 😂😂😂 up 3-1 the panthers won 3 straight game 7s 2 at Boston

  23. What if the bruins get rid of the the fourth line and replace with three forwards from Providence, get rid of Clifton and Orlov and possibly trade Ulmark and DeBrusk and keep Bertuzzi.
