[Mike Kelly] Il y a une différence entre un joueur en difficulté offensivement et un joueur qui n’a pas marqué. William Nylander, 0 buts lors de ses 5 derniers matchs, ne peine pas à créer l’offensive

I just want to see regular season overtime Nylander, but for the majority of the game. I wonder if he’s playing hurt.

    The Nyslander has to end!

hopefully he gets a monster of a game today, I like the player.

over past 5 games, he’s all the stats you listed, but also a -3 with 4 assists, 4 points.

    2 games over 21m, 2 games over 17m, 1 game over 14m.

Nylander is a fine player. But I don’t know what the appeal is for as many people in here to say he’s their favorite player or apologize for him all of the time.

The guy coasts, he plays soft too often (looking at the spinorama from game 1 for an example of a soft play), he doesn’t pay very good attention to what’s going on around him (not know where the puck is, tuning out on the ice, etc)

I’m ready to see beast Nylander … but I don’t think I’ve ever seen that from him.

May have ended up on the wrong side of the internet again but came across a pretty notable leaf tiktok account bashing Willy for a terrible playoffs, being soft, etc. Everyone was more or less agreeing with him. Was very, very confused

Willy has looked like classic Willy all playoffs. Engaged, electric and creating offence 90% of the time. Which is why he makes 4m less than the other guys.

Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grendades! Find a way time of the year!

    Nylander haters in shambles!!!

He was 22 points in his last 21 playoff games. Stop blaming the wrong people.

I have Ikea furniture to build under the supervision of my Ikea shark (who I named Willy). He’s gotta score tonight!!

So what you’re telling me is he’s scoring two tonight

A key note here is that he hasn’t been included in the first power play unit. I feel like he deserves to be there instead of perhaps O’Reilly. It may give him some chances and a confidence boost.

Willy is such a weird player to watch. Like, I know he deserves to play major minutes – he scored 40 this season and he has some good postseason stats (minus goals). It’s just that the eye test is all over the place for him. He’s the one who drove to the net and forced out a tripping call in overtime v. Tampa, and I see him excel in o zone strips. But I also see him cheat up the ice before the Leafs have posession in their own end, and coast on a transition where he doesn’t have the puck on his stick. It feels like he’s on the ice for 15-20 mins a night, but dialed in for 5-10. That sounds harsh, and it probably is, but he’s part of a core that includes Marner and Matthews, who are having an *exceptional* playoffs in all 3 zones, for all 60 mins, and the comparisons are there by proxy alone.

All that said, if we know he’s on a goal drought, he definitely does too. But, if he gets one, it’s very possible it goes right to his legs and we see a *huge* performance going forwards. He’s definitely capable of it, and it’s such a treat to see him take over a game. Rooting for him tonight!

Nylanderthals UNITE our boy’s potting one today LFG

Thought he was good on Tuesday. For me, if he’s getting shots on target I can’t say he isn’t trying

As someone cheering against the Leafs, Nylander has been creating a ton. I know there are a couple other 8-figure guys Leafs fans also look to for offense but Nylander has probably looked the most dangerous by eye test.

  18. Kawabunga90

Yeah but, tell that to my dad!

  19. strangewhatlovedoes

He’s got a lethal shot. He should be on PP1 over anyone not named Matthews.

He’s struggling compared to previous playoffs. He’s still my guy. He’ll get past this.
