  1. It’s fantastic the family loves it here. He was stellar in Nashville and glad to see our Ikea makes them feel right at home. 😎🇸🇪

  2. That was awesome! All the best to the Ekholms!
Welcome to the Oiler family in Edmonton!

  3. As a Swede watching the NHL Mattias has become more recognized and popular after the trade to EDM. But comparing Nashville to Edmonton would be similar to comparing Real Sociedad to Real Madrid. The Oilers are an institution. I'd imagine winning the Cup as an Oiler would be the ultimate hockey experience, aside from winning the Olympics. Heja Mattias!

  4. Give holland credit for getting eks every oiler fan woulda chose Karlsson and that woulda been a mistake eks was a way better choice

  5. This was the player I was hoping holland traded for and I’m pumped he’s with the oilers. So glad holland didn’t trade for chychrun

  6. Love how Toronto media always make it about the city like there's nowhere else in Canada to live….

  7. im sorry but even I am a Edmonton person that lived in Edmonton most of my life the air isn't that great. Now come to The west coast of the Vancouver island

  8. Nice couple. Nice family. You and your family, are good hands in Edmonton, Mattias. Best of luck going forward.

  9. Leafs fan here, this was so wholesome. Ekholm and his mighty beard has been a massive add for the oilers!

  10. Wife even has Cup Aspirations Love the Guy What a Beauty for our D-Core for atleast 5-7 more yrs

  11. So funny I have a swedish friend that immigrated to California, but couldn't handle the heat and moved to Edmonton. Ended up retiring in Edmonton. Some people are just built for cold.

  12. I love these guys. They're both such awesome people, and I love that they are not just "OK" with living in Edmonton, but actually prefer a place like Edmonton because it's similar to home. We don't ever really see that. They are just down to Earth people, which is rare for a player of his caliber. He's also a big difference maker on defense, both with his skillset on the ice, and also off. You can tell the impact he's made on Bouchard, already. Bouchard is able to grow into the player he's built to be because Ekholm handles the stuff that Bouchard doesn't excel at. I also think Bouchard has gained some toughness as a player, which is weird.. I didn't expect that. Great interview!

  13. The fact he’s already talking about years past this deal. I remember the dark days in Edmonton. Who cut the onion?

  14. Definitely one of the most underrated defenseman in the league. Glad he likes the city & he feels at home here! Having his veteran experience & leadership in the room has really helped our young guys like Bouchard & Broberg.

  15. Loved having Eks in Nashville. I can also see that the accent rubbed off on him a little bit 😂. Best of luck in Edmonton, man.
