  1. Yeah this was sloppy hockey tonight. As a devils fan, I know they can clean up their defense. THREE SHGs allowed!! That is too much. Second period is when both teams fell apart.

  2. Here is the deal. The Devils ate STILL an up and coming team. YES we gave up too much for Timo….we got back far less for Hall. However the main player we git back was Kevin Bahl and he us a top 3, really number 1 stay at honevD man. I didn't watch NHL playoffs mostly last year, I watched the AHL playoffs. The Hurricanes farm team won the cup so any injuries they have they can plug and play guys who olay the same system (mych like NJD) However, Kochetkov is having a hard time adapting to the NHL. Now Luke Hughes is playing….I am NOT exaggerating, he us a young Niedermeyer…..he guves ys a dynamic not seen sibce 2012 Marek Zidlicky.. Rafalski. Utica is now done so Nolan Foote will be available …Hoktz us a bust as I told ever he would be the night we drafted him. Both teams are matched well, but if our star players can play like this …Jack bbidy checking Rangers, niw getting into a wrestling match body slamming Aho….kid got heart. They should play Akira but they are going with Vanacek…..which means the boys must know they gotta score at least 4 to win ….Devils young players have heart…..and skill. Ee shall see

  3. Really enjoyed tonights game, as a Canes fan. The Hurricanes at least started to get physical and that's what I think they need. Biggest thing the Hurricanes didn't do in the first period was lift the puck over the neutral zone. That's how they shut the Devils down the pevious 2 times. Devils are strong when they get the puck from the neutral zone, Canes just released that strat.

If the Hurricanes can take tonights game and learn the physicality they've been missing (with some big bodies that don't get used for hits) then I think they'll be fine if they go back to the strat that helped them in games 1 and 2.

Either way, tonight's game was fun despite the loss, and I love this series. Such lopsided games on both sides. Beautiful

  4. I would argue Carolina's special teams (at least the PK units) played great tonight. Scored three shorties and only gave up one PP goal, which was at the tail end of them having 4 players in the box. In my opinion, the Canes' biggest issue was team goaltending, and I'm not sure what the solution is going to be moving forward. Anderson looks like he has the best upside if you take all four starts into consideration, but he let in 4 goals on 12 shots before getting pulled today, so I don't know how much you can trust him. Raanta looks like the most consistent, but he's out with an illness and, even when healthy, has given up more goals than Anderson on average this post season.

I have faith that Carolina will bounce back. I trust our defense to get their shit together in a hurry. Dropped game 3 against the islanders too, only to take game 4 with a decisive win. Just have to wait and see at this point.

  5. NJ came with the antidote to the Carolina play

I wish they did not give up 3 short handed goals 😀

  6. I think the Devils showed what they need to do to win the series. An offensively aggressive, high scoring game with some physicality mixed in. It’s a high risk, high reward strategy, but I don’t think they can win playing on their heels. I’d give the edge to Carolina right now, but NJ has shown when they play at max speed and intensity, they can be a quarter stride quicker than Carolina (a fast team in their own right) and that minor advantage is the one advantage they have and have to capitalize on.

  7. The issue. The same as last season: GOALTENDING. Vanacek was hot garbage in this game, as at least THREE of this Canes goals, should have been stopped. Can they eek this out by switching back to Schmid? Time will tell but, NJ cannot let loose the puck tornado, every game…
