after three games the leafs still can't counter florida's physical play and forecheck. they are done.
Marner and Nylander both play too small against a physical team like florida. only a handful of leafs have some grit the rest are too timid
Panthers beat the Bruins. It only makes sense they should have no trouble with the Leafs. Paul Maurice has more experience than Keefe. Keefe will learn from this experience and do better in the future. No sense in firing the Leaf management.
Imagine if Mariner, Matthews and Nylander played with grit. They would be on to their 2nd or 3rd cup.

Not players fault, majority goes to coaching. O Reilly won cup and Schenn won cup. They played horrible. Schenn injured his own goalie. F Dubas and F Keefe both should be gone long time ago. No more chances. And the rest of the coaches gone too.

It is clear that the architect of this team put together a team that is not built for the playoffs. I would fire Dubas, Keefe and Shanahan, then rebuild the team
Trade the top 4 immediately after the season is over. While they’re worth their max. And get some players with beating hearts. And gut the whole management team. How many more years are acceptable?

The difference is Panthers are playing good because they 've no pressure at all.
In Toronto they expect the Leafs the impossible to win the Stanley cup.
In Toronto its a religion, just look at the Leafs fans outside cheering like crazy little children for a stupid game of advertising, commercial craps, and when you think about it, not worthed the attention they have, samething in Montreal. The game of Hockey is dead meat now!

Matthews must be injured… no inspiration, speed or spark… Marner looks scared and cautious. Nylander is hustling, with no results. Tavares has no sense for scoring. Rielly can't carry an entire team. They over-prepped for Boston, didn't retool for Florida.
Leafs are trash, need to get rid of some core players this summer.

If you dont put the blame of keefe for this disaster of a series then you're not paying attention to how they"re playing. Look at how they break out of the defensive zone. They dont move the puck. They merely walk the puck to the red line and hope that there's some room to skate the puck into the offensive zone. They thrive offnof other teams giving them time and space. That's NOT sustainable. Florida is giving the leafs the least ammouny of time and space as they can and the leafs aren't producing offense. I thought keefe would realize what he's doing isn't working and change up how they work the puck in the neutral zone, but nope, basically nothing has changed. Keefe's stubbornness with his tactics is showing on full display to anyone really paying attention. He needs to go. Same with dubas. Dubas has made some good moves but for the most part he had little to no understanding of what the team needed. I'll keep bringing up the foligno trade until he's gone. Because what the leafs obviously needed for their 2021 playoff push was to get older and slower. Not to mention, the inability to acquire grit and sandpaper for way to long, and not trading Justin Holl even though he's a colossal liability on the ice. Both of them should have been gone after the Montreal series.
High powered offensive team with zero toughness or aggression amongst them. All 4 seem to be timid as baby deer when entering the corners and getting rough.
Willy looks lost out there. He won’t shoot the puck when wide open, skating around in space and making stupid passes. Matthews looks like a tree just blowing in the wind. And Marner is making dumb plays. Turns the puck over way too much. They are going to be traded this off season. Bye bye Sheldon. Enjoy your last day as a leafs coach.

I am not a Leafs fan. I read a lot of comments saying the core 4 are all soft. To my eyes Marner and Nylander most definitely are. I just cannot say the same about Tavares or Matthews, both fight for pucks and get hit frequently, neither appear to deliberately avoid contact like the other two.

We all know Toronto has the skills to score in bunches.
But what's becoming more evident is that for all the worldly skill they possess physically. The one that they need the most is nonexistent and that is the mental aspect of the game.
Look at FL down 3-1 to Boston and they just refused to lose. Down 2-0 in game 2 and came back and win it. down 1-0 in game 4 and comes back and win it. You can't teach this. FL has the right personnel for the ups and downs of the playoff grind. Toronto does not.
I think o' reily gets the picture now (or soon), there is no pt for him to put his soul into this team. If he's around next yr (probably not), he will just join the big 4 and just enjoy the payroll
