1. Mollie and Jake Rangers had 7 rebound chances the whole series. So don't make Schmid into Marty Brodeaur. Yes he was steady and probably saved the series but was he really tested? Not much. Rangers also made Louie Dominique and Raanta looked like wonders in last year's playoffs.

  2. LaFreniere may be the fall guy in all this, because the Rangers have boxed themselves for years at LW. Krieder will be a career Ranger, and Panarin, as much as they probably secretly wish they could move him, isn't going anywhere. Plus at some point they have to break Brennan Othmann in as well as Will Cuylle. Othmann is seemingly an untouchable, so he could be a 3rd line fit to start, and Cuylle could slip in on the 4th as a physical force.

  3. There’s a problem with the core, the coach is going to take the blame but I don’t know if it’s him

  4. The kid like can play toe to toe against any top line in the league. They were the only line that had some effectiveness in game 7. They are 21, 22, and 23 year old kids though, and kids need a good coach. Same goes for moving forwards left to right wing. We need a good coach I don't know how many times we have to scream this. Why can't the Rangers Organization ever hire a normal coach? When did we ever have a normal coach? What is wrong with this stupid organization?

  5. The Rangers definitely have a talent development problem. The Rangers and Devils have both had incredible luck in recent drafts. While the Devils have turned their top picks into 1 superstar (Hughes) and 1 borderline all star (Hischier), Kakko and Alexis Lef are currently borderline NHL players. Even Dawson Mercer (drafted 18th in Lefrenaire's draft class) has surpassed both Rangers top picks. Not sure if the Devils are incredible at developing talent, or the Rangers are just terrible. But It's probably a bit of both.

  6. How about the fact that Bratt, Hischier, Meier, etc. didn’t even score? The fact that NJ, didn’t NEED its stars to win the game. It was role players that won this series for them. Now, THAT’S impressive. Here’s something else to ponder: as good as NJ is, they are about to add a sniper n Holtz, and not one, but TWO incredible puck-moving defensemen in Hughes, and Nemec. I almost feel sorry for the rest of the NHL…

  7. Amazing how Rangers media look at the rangers performance as primarily an effort issue. They lost to a faster and better team, Devils style of play is a really dangerous matchup for them. It was no shock to anyone watching hockey all season that the devils speed was going to be a big problem. They both were in the 2 and 3 seat, both good teams, and the first round knocked out all kinds of cup contending teams like Boston, etc. Devils were just a bad matchup for the Rangers. The speed was a problem and if you carve out the first 2 games power play performance of the rangers, they literally just got dominated 5-5 play for all seven games. The devils just flew across the neutral zone with speed that overwhelmed the Rangers team play. I think its fair to critique the rangers as a collection of stars versus a fast playoff built team. Let’s be honest, last year the rangers are out in the first and second round without Igor.

  8. this does not hurt at all. they NEVER. EVER established for any meaningful amount of time this season that they were a serious contender for the cup. stop feeding the incorrect notion that this team's playoff loss is anything but the confirmation of logical, rational analysis. the devils are just better. faster, younger, ang they play a system that easily frustrates the soft, no forecheck offense the NYR employ. molly sounds like a child. maye having watched this franchise leaves me jaded, but c'mon molly, the pop psychology is silly

  9. they'd better get rid of ranarin and the other overcapped vets or they'll be 'almost good eough to take seriously' for a while. that'll be followed by another rebuild. been watching since 70/71. bad franchise

  10. Good god, I'm sick of these biased Rangers takes. The Rangers were never better than NJ PERIOD, every important metric favored NJ. The Devils have been better than the Rangers all season, and that's gonna continue in the next few years too

  11. That rant in the first few minutes was such a dumb take. You make it sound like the Rangers were the Cup favorites. In your mind maybe. They were underdogs going into t his series. They lost three of four to the Devils during the season. They finished third. Their 5v5 game sucks. It sucked during the season and it sucked during the playoffs. The real issue is how much you over-rated the Rangers.

  12. It's time for the Rangers to take out their metro cards and get aboard the L train. However their destination isn't NY but Elimination station

  13. First round exit and my exit as a Ranger fan.enough is enough.Kane needs to retire he can’t keep up.what an embarrassment.go Seattle they have no quit.

  14. Why does everyone say kakko in the top 6 hasn’t worked out? Kakko zib Kreider was in the top 5 lines in terms of xGF and they split the line up after only like 10 games . Vesey and Goodrow didn’t even put up 30 points and kakko and laf had 40. Not saying that’s great but it’s certainly better than those 2

  15. I say again, how is this the best coverage/analysis anyone can offer for a NY sports team? These idiots cheered on this fantasy team and every subsequent move all season even to the point of saying Drury can do no wrong. That's right, can do no wrong they said. Cant make this up. Mollie is embarrassing and still peddling this sega genesis franchise mode team as if she expects the Rangers to win games 8 and 9 to advance b/c they were supposed to win.

  16. I wont claim to know what the answer is but the Rangers CAN NOT waste another great goalie.

  17. Devils were the better team in the regular season and the playoffs. One cup in 83 years, should be used to disappointment by now.

  18. Refund the trip toll? How about you keep your Raggedy fan butts in New York. Stick to the most over-rated, overprice arena in the country.

  19. The Devils beat the Rangers 3-1 in the regular season, were ahead of the Blue Shirts almost the entire season, and had home ice advantage. Many were picking the Devils to win the series. Yet, these "reporters" who cover the Rangers say it was a colossal failure. I can see why Devils fans are pissed and why any fans other than Rangers fans hate the team. But it's the media's fault and many of the Rangers' fans fault for making it sound like the Rangers are a terrific team, when they are not. Good? Yes. Great? No.
