Still found it weird how much commentary was harping over us having a « backup » in goal. No disrespect to LB, who’s been having himself a great stretch, but commentary acted as if LB wasn’t…beneath Hill on the depth chart all year. In a way, we moved _up_ the depth chart.
Obviously, I’m not trying to spin that as a positive. I really hope LB is okay and I’m even more happy that we could get this win for him. But this entire season has been about the « next man up » in goal for us, and I had immediate confidence in Hill to pick up right where LB left off.
In fact, that further goes into the weird trend of commentary to be only negative toward us the entire game. All of the phrasing… « Well, Smith hasn’t scored yet, he’ll need to get going. They’ve got a backup goalie, he’s coming in cold » etc etc as if they can’t talk about how good Stone/Eichel have been. Or highlight how we’d been shutting down McDrai. Or point out how deep our scoring goes, with guys like Stephenson, Amadio, and Howden coming up big in clutch situations.
/rant I guess, hated how everything on this mortal plane is going to be second to the Oilers storyline and stars. ESPN has no clue how to market if they’re not blowing the best players under the table.

He is way better than Brossoit. Should of seen him past couple of years while playing for the Coyotes. Post over .900 sv pct averaging 50+ shots a game. I didn’t even know you guys had him on the team. He should be your starter.
