This is evidence that stroking the egos of kids in their 20s with multi year double digit salaries in the millions will only have a negative effect. Whether it's pure laziness or subconscious side effects, its obvious that in 1 way or another they don't have that grit that never say die, never quit mentality because they have already won lol. Millions of dollars a year, playing for the most popular team in the NHL, sold out stadium every game. Promo deals, nice cars and houses travel and party. Women when they want. Literally everything they want at their finger tips. They may want a Stanley cup, they may tell people that's all they want, but its just pre staged answers not from the heart, not by these kids. Anyone to ever win in any non amateur sporting league you look at those guys and you see the drive to win, not talent, but heart willing to give it all for a real chance to win. How do you get that from kids that are rich, full of themselves and has the adoration of their fans…easy you don't. Defense first ffs please.

The problem with this team is they got content and comfortable. I understand that winning 1 round finally was a huge deal, but there was way, way too much celebrating..imo. the leafs imo have played better hockey against Florida than they did against Tampa, they've just ran into a hot goaltender. They somehow beat Tampa playing pretty bad hockey, but all that means absolutely NOTHING if they get swept by the Panthers. Its just not good enough, period. I think there are going to be major changes this off Season and honestly, i think its about time. So many times Keefe has been getting out-coached. Dubas has done a great job at putting a good team on the ice, but refuses to split up the "core 4". Look at Seattle, they're winning without 1 player making 6 million dollars….just saying.
If you can't score, you need to play defense until there's an opening. You don't send your guys in to get slaughtered when the enemy has their shields up.

I have been a Leafs fan since 72. Dubas's dumb ideas about what wins and Keefe's stupid choices make me pine for the Ballard days. At this point I can't decide if I want them to be swept or win one so the fans can boo them off the ice in Toronto. Fire Dubas, trade these marshmallows for picks and prospects and build a team from the net out around Woll.

Nylander will go wherever he gets the most money. One dollar more would be enough to get him. If Dubas would have traded Nylander when he held out Dubas could have had Marner for millions less and the Leafs would have the D they desperately need.
