Doing what’s right for the rest of his life. Going to be really hard to miss two seasons and come back to NHL caliber at his age.

  2. BCLetsRide69

🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃 edit why am I being downvoted lmfao

  3. Spider_Jesus26

Take my cartilage, Gabe, I’m not using it.

  4. Photura

Happy he’s looking out for himself and his health, depressed cause I miss our captain

  5. TheAmazingScamArtist

I am truly sad. The only consolation was seeing him finally lift the cup. I hope he can come back to hockey but at this point is it even worth it?

  6. Square_Saltine

That’s going to suck, but it’s nice to know ahead of time instead of hoping for a return all year. Hoping the surgery works out.

  7. Blu3Yeti

Really starting to worry that he may be done. Taking 2 years off for injury at his age is really rough.

I hope he recovers for his own well-being, but man this sucks.

  8. akira_fudou

he’s been an absolute warrior through all this. wish him nothing but the best in his recovery journey!!

  9. Colorado_designer

That doesn’t sound like the kind of thing where you can play elite ice hockey afterwards.

Bummer for gabe but he had an amazing career already, hopefully he can enjoy the rest of his life with his new knee

IDK how it works in Hockey, but can we promote Mac or Rants to Captain? Seems weird to not have one like last year

  11. fatch0deBoi34

Idk how this team will replace his leadership tbh. We currently don’t have a true captain on this roster. Absolutely gutted for Gabe. Fucking horrible luck man

  12. shwysdrf

Damn. At least the front office has some certainty. LTIR and use that money for some scoring help. Godspeed Landy 🫡

  13. OctaVariuM8

Man when it rains it pours around here. This really sucks. As if him being gone all of last year wasn’t bad enough + playoffs, now we’re without our captain for yet another year of this core’s youth.

Of course I wish Gabe the best in his recovery, but man is that contract looking…questionable now. Two years removed from any NHL-paced hockey activity at age 31 with his style of play has me very concerned the version of Landy we saw during the cup run is dead.

  14. No_Jackfruit_5647

Worst thing about this year’s trade deadline was the uncertainty of Gabe. The Avs didn’t make big moves or put Gabe on LTIR because there was always a chance he could come back before the playoffs.

Now, the Avs are unburdened and can make the moves necessary. And more importantly, use the 7mil in cap space.

  15. Txfinfamous

Dang, here’s to a solid recovery cap!

  16. Canadian__Ninja

Better to take care of his health, and now we know for a fact we can use his cap space. Better to know and work around it than play the « will he, won’t he » game like this year

  17. HoodPhones

This hurts my soul so much

Gave his knee for a cup.

  18. ButtsCarlton97

He’s a fucking great guy and this is a fucking asshole of a day

  19. goavsgo1988

I have a sinking feeling he is never going to play again and that’s such a bummer, but if that’s really the case, retire his number immediately

  20. Huge_triceps

I’m gonna cry….Landy is the heartbeat of that team.

  21. luciusetrur

Calder. Captain. Champion. Hope we can see him again, but I’ve loved watching him. My favorite post-Sakic player.

  22. Mysterious-World9087

    💔💔💔💔💔

  23. Luna4589

Well, that’s one off-season question mark with an answer.

This is sad. It sounds like a last ditch effort kinda thing to resume his career. But a two year layoff from the league is rough. I hope the surgery goes well.

  24. OpenSourceSlayer

Y’all giving up on Landy!? Dudes gonna be back and savvy as ever. I believe in him

  25. DeepSeaProctologist

God damn reminds me of Tyrell Davis fucking Knees there is so much bad shit that can happen.

  26. Mooseeyy

Just fell to my knees in King Soopers.

  27. gallapagos42

I’m hurt dawg don’t ask if I’m alright

  28. Xarkkal

Wow… this hurts. All I can picture is him in the last game he played in, losing his skate and giving his all to get back to the bench, followed by images of him lifting the cup, and embracing his wife crying and saying « we did it » while she tells him how proud of him she is.

Miss you Man Rocket. We all just want what is best for you.

  29. coloch_w0rth9

Can’t say I didn’t see this coming, but is what it is. Let’s use the LTIR and try and load up.

  30. dhas19

Maybe not the right time and don’t mean to sound insensitive, but how does everyone feel about the team retiring 92 If the last time we see him on the ice is him raising the cup? it’s definitely a discussion, but I’m leaning toward yes. Love the guy, and wishing him all the best.
