1. I'm a Jets fans, and think all three (Wheeler, Scheifele, and Dubois) need to go. And since we only have them all for one more year, they need to be traded either this off season or around the deadline. We will also probably need to trade Hellebuyck since he will not want to wait for the team to develop if we trade for picks and prospects.

One idea that I've heard recently is to trade Hellebuyck to LA for Byfield, and then see if we can trade a package including Scheifele to Boston for Swayman. Might not be possible, but that's the kind of thing I would like to see.

  2. Shy of being BOSTON, Winnipeg ducked out of playoff contention so fast. Otts don't you dare look at these dogs, let'em go.

  3. "There's a rabbit asleep in front of the Jets' drawer"??? I'm reminded of the '"80's show "Seeing Things", when the female lead complained to the cop, "there's a horse tied to my Rabbit."

  4. Look at what Paul Maurice is doing in Florida right now. He's on the verge of having his team sweep the Maple Leafs.

Perhaps Maurice reached the point where he felt he could no longer help the Jets. Now that leaves the question, has Rick Bowness reached that same point?

  5. Trade off Helly, Dubois, Scheifele and Wheeler… and even consider maybe letting KFC and Perfetti go if you can get something crazy for them. KFC is too streaky and Perfetti is just too soft for the NHL.

Get back LOTS of CAP Space, assets, younger players, picks, prospects, etc.

Let guys like Kuhlman, AJF, Appleton, and Stanley just go, because you aren't getting anything for them. Optional guys to keep are Stenlund and Gus.

Then go and get VEJMELKA! Bring up some youth, Moose, etc…. Use the Cap space to get some younger players that need a chance.

Start getting the last couple of years draft pick kids onto the Moose and up to the Jets in the next year or 2.

So… a rebuild on the fly. Get a team that in 2 to 3 years will be solidly in the playoffs.

  6. Wheeler needs to go to a contender
Schieffle most teams would be happy to take him
Dubois is probably our most valuable asset even if his point production isn’t as high as others. Just the way he plays he’s a brute and doesn’t care if you’re in the way he’ll go through and often make it work.
Helle- probably leaves for greener pastures and I think the jets end up similar to many other teams with a tandem that you ride whoever’s playing better.
If Chevy wants to keep a job there will be at least a news worthy change to the team. I’d say 2020 when they lost out against St. Louis should have been the year changes were made, at this point we’re beating a dead horse

  7. This was a good team build on paper. I'm not sure who should've known that Scheifele would be a lunatic, or that Hellebuyck would fall apart when they finally got their chance, but it was someone in the war room's. On paper this is a very reliably contending team tho.

  8. I could see Montreal making an offer of Dvorak, Florida's 1st and norlander for PLDs rights but only if he's agreeing to a contract at under 8mil per season

  9. The Jets need to figure out their plans. Rebuild or retool, it sounds like a retool right now. The problem is that will limit return and likely create a situation like our hastily rebuilt defense. Not certain it's good enough to go far in the playoffs. It was impressive when it was done, much like the Tchachuk trade for Calgary.
I would go rebuild route, but it'll be hard. Book is out on so many of our "assets".
PLD let someone else deal with the problem of Montreal next year. It's a soap opera. He will likely never be that guy from that one playoff round so many years ago. PLD isn't consistent enough for the Jets needs. I think the return is all based on potential not actual which sucks as most GMs are too savvy.
Wheeler because the players still see him as the leader, so you cannot build a new leadership core with him in the locker room. Anyone joining is going to defer to him, the player's interviews said as much. They stripped him of captaincy but numerous players said he was the captain. That means you won't have guys stepping up while he is there.
Schieffle because he continues to ignore whatever coach he has backing him. He's a great student of the game but as a player he needs to be open to what the coach is asking of him. He's a certain type of player in his own words and unwilling to change it. Let him figure out that the stability offered by the Jets was not an opportunity you can just get anywhere. Again the return is still high here because teams still think they can fix attitude.
Hellebuyck because he masks so many deficiencies on this team and his value is still very high. Again return is the name of the game, the Jets will need to find some goalie somewhere. Not overpay for him. The problem is this whole trade is for prospects and picks, not existing players.

  10. Blow it up. I’m sick of watching mediocrity every year. Aside from 2018 this team has disappointed year in year out. We need to build through the draft again. There are few prospects in the pipeline and it’s never going to be an attractive destination for free agents. The fan base is done with the current core.

  11. I can't see how they trade Wheeler, that guy doesn't seem to care much anymore. In fact Dubois and Schiefele also kinda come off as not great personalities either, so sounds tough.

  12. The only non touchables on this team should be Lowry, Morrissey and maybe Hellebuyck.Dubois Schiefele and Wheeler need to be moved out as soon as possible. As much as I like Ehlers, he is too prone to injuries.

  13. For context, i am like THG where i have a favourite team (Habs) then a couple teams i root for strongly (Avs and Jets) like he does for Vancouver, Boston and Dallas respectively, so this is kinda like me speaking as a fan of the Jets.

It may be controversial, but I think the Jets need a rebuild. Dubois made it clear hes not planning to stay in Winnipeg, Wheeler is getting old, and Schiefele has enough value the Jets could get a nice haul for him. Hellebuyck has stated he wants a Cup and the Jets (as constructed) are not a team that is built to go far, so trading the goalie for a respectable haul seems like the best option.

I think you can rebuild this team around the batch of young players they do have (Perfetti, Connor, Ehlers, Morissey) and make them more competitive within 3 seasons but something needs to change. This team has been spinning its wheels since 2018 and clearly the team as is, just isnt working.

  14. Time to re-tool – keep the youngsters like Lowery and try to keep Hellebuyck if he wants to stay, but the rest have to go.

  15. Please explain how the guys you say are 'on the way out' are in that position. Scheifele seems like a keeper to me, for example.

  16. If I were Chevy I’d get cracking on the rebuild now, especially with pivotal players hitting UFA next offseason.

  17. Winnipeg has the same issue as Calgary, there’s always going to be players on the team who don’t want to be there. Kane, Trouba, Dubois. When you’re a millionaire the last city in the league you want to play in is Winnipeg

  18. Chevaldayoff deserved to be fired years ago. He needs to be held accountable for wasting this core

  19. I hadn't realized that the core for the Jets has been the same for this long(not a jets 'fan' but i do watch most teams) They haven't been able to get over the hump for this long i think its time for major surgery. A total teardown rebuild? Maybe thats what they need

  20. Honestly their two-three decent trades from a perfect retool my only concern is chevys loyalty to this core. Since 2017 he’s traded only 1 significant player ofc being laine it’s hard to believe now he’ll trade them after 6 years of practically nothing

  21. If the Avs dont try and convince Toews to sign as their 2C, I hope they can get involved with Wpg to either get Schiefele @50 retained or help facilitate the PLD to MTL deal, and maybe come away with a player like Dach. Wpg has some good hockey players that will put up points when in better situations.

  22. Scheifele and Wheeler are 100% gone. There's no way you can keep those guys around now. I'm honestly kind of surprised Chevy is still there. He's banked on this core year after year and they always come up short. Big things are going to be happening in Winnipeg.

  23. If I'm Montreal, I don't really want PLD. Dude's been toxic everywhere he's gone, and you're just betting that changing when he gets his wish of playing in Montreal. It's a big ask for a young captain in Suzuki and a relatively inexperienced coach in St Louis to manage a personality like that

  24. Its not that we hate these guys, its that it is apparent that the culture and chemistry does not work. They tried for years but it is time for a change. Trade. Do not rebuild. New faces. New attitude.

  25. In 2019/2020 seasons I don’t really blame Chevy for not making much changes because Byfuglien left us hanging for a while. But I feel now it’s the time to shake up our top 6

  26. Jim Toth (CJOB radio 680 am ) says the Jets have the best top 6 in NHL.
    Thoughts?
    😂

  27. This team is full of crybabies just like the Flames! Scheifele, Wheeler & Hellebuyck needs to go!

  28. I kinda like the jets hard 2 figure out y they mostly suck dang they have alot of good players. Go figure.

  29. no mention of laine being on that conference finals team? i guess cus hes not a jet anymore

  30. We now know (some knew as far back as 2018) the REAL culprits when it comes to why Laine and Kane spoke the way they did on their way out.

  31. The Jets couldn't win with Schiefele, Wheeler, Dubois. Might be wise to improve by moving them. That move is a must I believe.

  32. "I think The Winnipeg Jets would beat The NJ Devils in 7 game series."
    – The Hockey Guy 2023

    🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  33. The Winnipeg Jets: not worth waking up a rabbit for.

As a Jets fan, that pretty much sums it up.
