Why would we want another coach with no playoff success?

Leafs have four players eating half their cap, all arguably in the top 10 in their position around the league yet only have one playoff series win to show for it. I’d argue this is a « grass isn’t always greener » replacement for GG

I think if he’s let go, you have to at least reach out for an interview. I get that he hasn’t had much playoff success, but you know he can handle the pressure of a big market team (TO even bigger than NY for hockey), you know he can develop young talent, you know he has good tactical accumen (his TML teams are amongst the best possession teams in the league, imo. 3 straight seasons of xGF% ~55%), and while he has coached a star studded offense, he has never coached a team with a top-tier goalie, and I also think NYR D personnel are stronger than Toronto’s D.
I also think that his teams have been straight up unlucky. It was always going to be tough to beat an underrated Florida Panthers team that just upset the best regular season team of all time in 7 intense games. Florida walked into this second-round series with momentum and hasn’t let it go, things are clicking for them now.
That all being said, I don’t think the Leafs let Keefe go. I think the only way he is dropped is if Dubas is dropped, too. Too much history between the 2 of them, imo.

I’ve seen multiple Leafs fans criticize his lack of willingness to be harder on his superstars, specifically Marner and Matthews. Sounds exactly like the same situation with Gallant and guys like Panarin or Mika.

I dont know how I feel turning to a coach who has a recent track record of having his star players shit the bed in the playoffs. Especially after the abomination we watched from Panarin, Zibanejad, etc.

Jimmy Vesey just fell to his knees in a Walmart parking lot.

I’m am so game for Keefe if it’s not knob it should be him. Yes i get that Toronto may not have had the best success in the playoffs but i really take anything that happens in Toronto with a huge grain of salt. There is good reason why a lot of players that leave there then do great in other places
