It’s the devils lack of confidence they go down by one goal then completely just break down and think it’s over and start feeling bad for themselves it’s annoying
New Jersey has found a way to play worse than each previous loss and find new lows. That being said, they do bounce back. I wonder if this time there is no bounce left. They completely abandoned their game and any sense of team effort outside of McLeod’s line. A great 4th line will work wonders for your team in deep playoff runs, that is of course if all other lines are cooking with gas. Too many passengers on this playoff team for NJ. No way should Bratt get his much wanted high price contract, and it’s just time to bid the streakiest guy in the league farewell. Totally absent in the playoffs.
A Carolina vs Florida ECF would be fun. I grew up going to Pensacola Ice Pilots ECHL games (Glen Metropolit was my first favorite hockey player ever! Back in 1996!) and then I moved to Raleigh in 1997, the same year the Canes moved to NC too! But of course they played in Greensboro for a while. I did go to some games out there.
I felt like the Canes game 3 effort was way off for them and the Devil's took advantage of there poor play , with great intensity and put it away early..but tonight after a early push the hurricanes took there best punch and just said that's it kids let the adults play..game 3 was a wake up call..the playoff experience really showed

Meier seems to have a penchant for accidentally on purpose running into goalies. He was pushed, true, but he made sure to take advantage of it. The fact that he did the exact same thing when he made sure to land on Shesterkin's outstretched leg in the Rangers series may have influenced the penalty call.
i dont understand why anyone is surprised. he plays smith who is a dogshit defender and they traded for meier who is also shit. timo only looked good at the sharks cus he was the best of a bad bunch but that doesnt mean hes a good player hes just the best theyve got and we gave up zetterlund for him !! wake up lindy ! timo has scored 1 goal since arriving and scored 400,000,00 penulties ! its a joke, get rid of smith and timo !

I said in my game 3 comments that the whole game was too weird to take much stock out if it and I appear to be right. I think the post game 3 locker room message for the canes was "WDF?" We looked like a team possessed after we tied it. Canes need to finish this in game 5 Thursday. Especially because I think the Panthers sweep tonight.
Florida, Carolina & Dallas are my favorite teams so this is amazing!

Vitek Vanecek is COOKED!
And has been for a long long time. After giving up 4 of the softest goals ever including 3 shorties the game before LIndy really BLEW IT by running it back with Vitek for game 4.

Vitek was a a good regular season goalie, played the most minutes of his life, and burnt completely put. Schmid is not even a rookie with a glove hand that is a complete sieve.
NJ may have to kick the tires of Blackwood before this series is over.
Damn shame for NJ because Carolinas goaltending is terrible. That being said , NJs goaltending is a complete catastrophe.
I went outside with my wife to do some planning for yard work we need to do. The score was tied 1-1 about 5 minutes into the 2nd period. I came back in just as the 2nd intermission started. Oops.

2nd period was the worst period of hockey I think I've ever seen.
Sea/Edm would draw decently with the marketability of the expansion team angle and the Mcdavid Draisatal angle. Tor/NJ would be the best scenario for the ECF for ratings, any combo not with Tor as half of it would get destroyed in ratings. Casual florida fans have Heat basketball, Tampa baseball dominance and a sneaky ok team in Miami and College sports and oh yeah it's May in Florida. If you ended up with say a Carolina Seattle SCF, you ain't drawing in no casuals with that lol. This is a nightmare for the nhl.

I predicted the Canes would bounce back after that embarrassment in game three. My Canes are playing very well. I knew they were capable and I believed that when they are playing their best, they can beat anyone. I honestly did not expect the offense I'm seeing. I expected great defense keeping the opposition to low scoring opportunities. Anyway, I'm enjoying the run for now.
I'd say start Blackwood at this point
As I said last post, we need to find a way to stop the Canes stretch passes along with the quick tips into the middle of the ice that they use to advance into the neutral zone without having to out-skate us, this also prevents us from getting turnovers on the rush because the puck spends such a little amount of time in the neutral zone. SECONDLY we have to find a way to counter act there 1, 2, 2 fore-check, it suffocates us in our own end and causes mayhem and is preventing us from getting the puck out of our own end.
I say if games are 4+ more goals by one team in each game in any series it's a one sided game. Same with regular season those 7-6 games are rare.

The big difference between the Canes and Devils imo right now is pushback. The Canes have absolutely dominated 3 of the 4 games and the Devils simply gave up in all of them. And even though the Canes lost 8-4 in game 3, they still fought that entire game to try and claw back in – was just a bad game by everyone and not totally unexpected to see them drop one game.
But the Canes don't give up. It's been something even I've taken for granted with them all season. Every team loses, but the Canes very rarely just fold over and call it a day. The leadership of Jordan Staal and Rod Brind'Amour don't allow that crap to happen. I'm desperately trying to hold off on the hopeium, but it is getting harder and harder to do so, especially being one win away from hosting the ECF.
ESPN noted that this was the first time in NHL playoff history that a goalie was pulled in the first 4 games of a series. They must feel terrible.
Martinook has always been a grinder, he is the guy that gets everyone else going, and is always going 100%. Vital to the teams success and wouldn't be surprised to see him end his career with the Canes. Glad to see him spark at the right time in the playoffs.

With all the injuries the Canes have, Stastny and Martinook are playing clutch playoff hockey. Last night Martinook was all over the ice, playing his butt off.
Honestly as a caniac I wasn't as mad about game 3 as my friends wanted me to be. Kinda just happy we scored 4 goals and even if we got beat 8-0 it's still only a single game in a 7 game series.
