Reminder: This capped out team finished 18th and 22nd in the league the last 2 years but thinks they’re a temporarily embarrased Cup contender.

This is embarrassing. How on earth are we over the cap when we continually miss the playoffs.
This team is forced to push for playoffs because of all the overpaid players we have on the team.
An aside: Obviously anytime anyone ends up on LTIR it’s fucking sad and I’m not trying to minimize that by talking about pure numbers, but we don’t really talk about how burying the caphits of underperformers Poolman, Pearson and Ferland on LTIR has been very fortunate for us, cap-wise.

Petey hit 100 points, Hughes got into top 3 in defensemen points and we’re still in the lottery. There’s no room for creativity or wriggle room unless we do something completely dumb like trade away our first. But even at that the team is maxed out at a second round exit
