Reminder: This capped out team finished 18th and 22nd in the league the last 2 years but thinks they’re a temporarily embarrased Cup contender.

No worries guys, some other team in the league will be fully willing to take on one of our dozen bad contracts as a favour.

Does this include LTIR relief?

This is embarrassing. How on earth are we over the cap when we continually miss the playoffs.
This team is forced to push for playoffs because of all the overpaid players we have on the team.

An aside: Obviously anytime anyone ends up on LTIR it’s fucking sad and I’m not trying to minimize that by talking about pure numbers, but we don’t really talk about how burying the caphits of underperformers Poolman, Pearson and Ferland on LTIR has been very fortunate for us, cap-wise.
Those could be three absolute stinkers. $9.25M total hit.

Lottery team btw

This cores peak is gonna be a 2nd round exit lmao

Spend to the cap with nothing to show for it.

When Parise & Suter were bought out, I had just been accepted into university.
When the buyouts drop to below 1 million, I’ll have my Master’s Degree.
I will not look back fondly on this period of time.
NOTE: Even if we didn’t buy them out, we’d still be in the exact same positio, maybe worse.

Chicago fan here: what do you think of a trade involving Boeser to free up cap space?

22nd place in the NHL, lottery team, yet we’re the only one projected to be over the cap. Yes, I know we have LTIR, but a team doing this poorly should not need to dig into LTIR cap space to ice a roster.

We’re at the top of the standings!! Oh wait…

This organization is so cooked man. For the first time I’m doing zero offseason research into draft picks or free agents. Petey hit 100 points, Hughes got into top 3 in defensemen points and we’re still in the lottery. There’s no room for creativity or wriggle room unless we do something completely dumb like trade away our first. But even at that the team is maxed out at a second round exit

Aquilini man… the team’s future has been in a complete nose dive since he took over. Before him, in the system we had Sedins, Edler, Bieksa, Burrows, Kesler, Schneider, Luongo, Hansen, Chad Brownlee, etc…

I remember when Benning had defenders here. Wonder where they are these days.

It’s okay, once Bedard pulls a Lindros out on Chicago they’ll be forced to take a bad contract or 2 to hit the cap floor, I’m not worried

Ah yes, the Canucks are on the same level as the Bolts, a capped out competitive roster, little to no prospect/draft capital, and… a bunch of hardware to show for it! Fuck, no? We’re worse off. ☠️

Vgk actually has cap space?
ididntwantsalmon19
Meh. I don’t think it’s as bad as it looks. Move out a contract or two and everything is solved.
vicious_pink_lamp
Being such an unbelievably mediocre, poorly managed franchise for 10 years is so tiring.

Wtf!

one of garland or boeser is going to get moved.

Lots of work in the off season. Also, Pearson will likely start next season on LTIR.
