  1. Doesn't matter when your goaltender lets in 1-2 softies per game. The number 1 need is nhl level goaltending.

  2. Who else loves Dan’s timing right after the drop in the music. It’s soo good! ❤😂

  3. Goaltending DK, the Penguins need to shore up their goaltending this offseason. You can have all the speed and goal scoring you want, but if your goalie cant stop a puck or make a clutch save, it's all for nothing.

Jarry is not dependable and DeSmith cannot be counted on for a long period of time as a starter.

  4. Defense in terms of team defense? Yes, that would do wonders, but don't think they're going to bring in a forward like O'Reilly and all of a sudden fix things, and any time they systematically tried to force a style of play without the players, let alone the desire to really carry it out, Johnston was coach. How'd that go? They don't have that kinda team anymore. Not that Sullivan would change anything to suit the players, or situation he's in anyway. This core isn't exactly making it easy to instill a concept of "team defense wins cups", when it's 200' game isn't what it was 6 years ago, and adding some defensively responsible bottom 6 players, or mobile defensemen isn't going to make that all go away either.

It's too late to inject the kinda thing that made the 2017 team a success, back into an old 23-24 roster, and stubborn coach resigned to doing it a certain way. Just weeding out the bad contracts alone is going to take a full season or more, and if in couple seasons they do have a good enough surrounding cast outside the core, these core guys by then will be making retirement plans. The reality is, the past couple of seasons were it for this team, and that was their last shot. Accept it. Sadly, Mario left them with Hextall and an absentee landlord as owner for the final nail in their coffin.

There's just not enough time to fix what needs fixing before jerseys are being readied for hanging in the rafters. In a non-salary cap league, this wouldn't be the case. Any team with deep pockets like FSG could make things better overnight and be a cup contender in the morning. The same salary cap era that allowed the Penguins to be successful again and compete with the NYC's and Toronto's of the league, is what's handcuffing them now. This is the parity everyone wanted.
