I’m thrilled by this hire, Jonesy gets the game, understands that the style of « old school flyers hockey » doesn’t work and isn’t the way to build a team. He and Danny B understand the modern style of hockey and what works, Speed and skill, Jonesy has been vocal and critical about this organization being stuck in their ways for years now.

Cautiously optimistic. Still ex players at the helm. But I’m high on jonesy and Danny

So while it’s out of left field I’m a bit optimistic on Danny and Keith for the following reasons:
Danny served as a mentor for a few Flyers during his time here and helped bring out their talent. He did well with his team before getting this job too, he’s an ex smaller skill player so he understands the old mantra isn’t all it’s cracked up to be (Broad Street Bullies).
Keith has served as commentary and analyst for years now and honestly has always been one of the best at it. His takes are rarely super hot and he has an eye for the modern player talent.
With these two at the helm, I’m praying that player development and proper scouting becomes paramount moving forward as it should.

Jones is such a clown. At least Eddie O has a calm respect for the game and professional presence.

I feel so unfathomably ‘meh’ about this. But maybe that’s just how I feel towards this whole organization anymore.
I absolutely love Jonesy as person. I read his book when I was in middle school. I think he’s a great color commentator and gets today’s game. I love that I get to hear him on home broadcasts and national broadcasts for teams that aren’t the Flyers.
I love Briere. I’ve heard he gets the business side of hockey based on his work in the ECHL or wherever he was. And I know he’s played mentor to a lot of the young guys on the team now, which is cool.
But let’s be honest, if you were to look at their resumes without their names, would anyone really think they have the qualifications to be in these positions? Which then just lends to the fact that this organization continues to just hire former Flyers to run the team which, newsflash assholes, hasn’t worked.
I’m not saying they won’t be good and I’m not saying it’s going to be more dumpster fire either. I’m here for the ride. The organization is saying they want to change how things are done, and I think that’s at least partly true, but then they go and do this. Just because they’re not the « old guard » of Clarke, Holmgren, Barber or whoever doesn’t mean it’s not the same hiring approach.

I don’t know, man, I’m just tired.
