    Sound like hard speculation

« Team would rather have a better draft pick than worse. »

  3. backwardzhatz

Whatever news is, this is the opposite of that.

  4. Professional_Mode804

They’d better not trade assets to avoid Michkov, chances are sharks take him anyway

  5. Not_drunk_cactus

I too would like to move up and Draft Bedard

Maybe Anderson + Eddy +florida first could do it

    /S

  6. noragepetit

Honnetement je serais pret a donner nimporte quoi pour le 2ieme choix, Caufield, Suzuki, m’en fou. On aurait enfin un vrai premier centre

  7. c0unt3rparts

Let’s trade assets to avoid taking the best player available

  8. Frectozhae

That’s a good idea actually. If they truly want to take one of Smith or Carlsson, I’d pay a lot of asset to make sure we take that guy. It’sa good way to sidestep the Michkov issue and still get out with a great player.

  9. BlazeOfGlory72

I suppose it might be possible if one of Columbus or San Jose is happy with any of Carlsson, Smith or Michkov. Not sure what we could realistically offer to make it worth it for either of those teams though.

I don’t see chicago or anaheim moving down and 3-5 sounds to be all of the same quality tier so why bother to trade an extra asset for a lateral move in the draft more or less.

If they dont want to take Michkov 5th OA and hes there + if a team like WAS absolutely wants him but fears that ARZ or PHI might take him, then I feel like trading down (to 8th OA) would make much more sense and would probably allow us to get the guy wed take at 5 (Reinbacher, Benson, etc) while gaining assets (and without getting shit on by the fans for not drafting a talent like Michkov).

Trading up would cost way too much and beside an overpay, I dont see why CLB or ANA would want to move down. Anyway, lets say CLB might consider moving down (because they want Smith instead of Carlsson), then I dont see why instead of paying assets, KH wouldnt just wait it out and possibly get Carlsson anyway since CLB would take Smith anyway at 3.

With managements love of the the big boys I can totally see them trying to step up to secure Carlsson.

Will that actually happen though? Seems unlikely.

  13. Strict_House3347

    Offer Chicago Carey Price.

  14. juliusceasarsalads

Gonna be wild when they trade up to 4th and still take Reinbacher lmao.

Kidding of course, I wouldn’t hate to see us trade up. I think it’s still over complicating things unnecessarily just to avoid drafting Michkov but if they found a way to move up to 4 and take Carlsson/Smith then I’d still be happy on draft day. Still better than just giving up and taking someone with a lower ceiling at 5

in other news water is wet. good job dredger, where’s bob mckenzie when we need him?

  16. DivinePotatoe

Sadly I don’t think there is any package any team could present to Chicago to trade that pick.

  17. _thewayshegoes

We’re right where I thought we’d be – wishing we’d tanked harder. There was no reason for Dach and Matheson to be on the ice late in the season, they should have just stayed “injured”, but we bought into the “winning mentality” bullshit and now the Hawks got Bedard and we’re too far down for the guys we really want…

  18. DburgH4L

Do you think that Columbus takes 5th ovr and a roster player or two for 3rd ovr so we can take Carlsson? My thinking behind this is that they are not rebuilding but trying to contend next year and the players would help them while they could draft reinbacher to help them now as well.

  19. Longshanks123

Here’s how we get Bedard. Step 1: he refuses to play in Chicago and they draft him anyway. Step 2: we give them the modern equivalent of Forsberg, Hextall, Ricci, Ducharme, Huffman, Simon, 2 picks, and 15 million dollars. Step 3: There’s no step 3 the above situation and trade is completely impossible here.

  20. poub06

I would actually like that. If the Habs are not going to pick Michkov because of everything around him, I 100% prefer to see them trying to move up than reach at 5. Maybe Carlsson/Smith & Michkov are in the same tier for San Jose and they would be willing to switch their first with us who might not have Michkov in the same tier than the two centers.

  21. oReevee

Everyone’s assuming it’s our pick being traded up, but we do have another, maybe someone in the 10-15 has Hughes interest

  22. the_canadaball

In other news. Grass is green and water makes things wet

  23. TonyComputer1

Biggest chaos is when they move up to select Michkov.

  24. KoreanPhones

Imagine we do all this shit just to avoid having to draft Michkov and then Michkov comes over and lights up the league.

That is my doomsday scenario and would have me depressed for a decade.

  25. Kooldude777

    Our # 5 + #27 + Slakov
    For #1 overall😇
