Been a Cats fan since franchise inception. Zito knew after last year's Round 2 debacle that the roster was not built for winning playoff hockey. He risked his career by trading Huberdeau and Weegar for Tkachuk. Bringing in Maurice turned out to be a second master stroke but before his philosophy and system took hold, the Panthers would need a 6-1-1 finish by career minor league netminder, Alex Lyon, to merely make into the last playoff position. For his tenure in Florida, Bob has looked nothing like a 10 million dollar a year backstop. He picked a fine time to revert back to Vezina form. Just ask Boston fans. Here's the funny part. If Marchand scores on that game closing breakaway, none of this matters. Once he didn't, and the Panthers put away Boston, they became serious Cup contenders. As a Panthers, I can't believe the position we are in and I'm beyond elated. But the Leafs are experiencing the exact same thing as us last year. We hadn't won a series since 1996 and then absolutely shut down by Tampa for the sweep, with none of our big guys showing up. To quote Huberdeau when we were down 0-3, 'Who Cares'.

This Current Roster probably running it back next season. Which is a Huge Problem.
Management should always look to improve the team every year.

I'm old Boston guy hockey player, I played in tournaments in Toronto back in the 70's, I really wanted to see the leafs put it on the Panthers, Florida, the mecca of hockey? But Tampa has won cups there and now the Panthers. It's good for hockey, what's next, beach hockey.
People keep saying the Leafs didn't deserve to win round one. They certainly did. Last year Tampa didn't 'deserve' to win in the first round against the Leafs. Stop using this stupid term. There's no deserve to win in a bouncy puck sport.

I know people want to focus on management, coaches, refs… but all the focus should be on the core. You absolutely cannot “run it back”
after three games the leafs can't counter florida's physical play and forecheck, just look at the ot winner for example.
its very apparent there are just a few leafs willing to fight for the puck, the rest are too timid. its tough to win or lose four straight. the leafs may win a game but that's about it.
None of the leafs top 4 have a goal this series. Meanwhile Draisitle has 13 in 8 games. God I’m so happy I’m an oilers fan

Keefe is out coaches all series. Marner hasn’t shown up this series and neither has Matthew’s and JT. Even last series while I really liked their comeback wins and it did show a lot of heart and character. They were outplayed basically the whole series.
Fire Keefe, Dubas and get rid of Marner or Matthew’s. Either that or Nylander and Tavares. It’s time to break up the core and they can’t sustain this cap magic to make it work for a team that has no heart.
