@Red Wings de Détroit

Un article vraiment solide qui met en perspective les malheurs de la loterie Wings. (Mur payant)

    Don’t have access so until some kind wing-nut posts a summary I’ll assume it says something about how well Stevie has drafted and that players we have taken in the first round reasonably could be redrafted in the top 3 (seider, Raymond, maybe edvinsson). Draft is a snapshot in time. Sometimes lottery picks bust and the best player was taken in the second round.

    Outside of dropping to 4 with the literal worst modern record ever, what is there to complain about? It’s not a conspiracy that they keep picking 4-6, it’s odds, so make the best of it, which yzerman has.

    The Athletic is literally 50 cents right now before you start to complain

    The Athletic is worth every penny. Give it a shot if you’re a Wings fan. Or a fan of literally any sport/sports team.

    The only true bummer and what I’m kissed shout was missing out on Stutzle and having the rules change right after.

    I hope Raymond can prove me wrong there – would love it.

  6. Someone please summarize 🙁 paywall not okaywall

    I think the story isn’t that by the numbers, the red wings mostly ended up with reasonable prospects (as the story analysis shows)

    it’s that the lottery system itself is broken. Any team that’s been as poor as we’ve been for the last 7 or so years, should not be forced to sit-back and watch as other less-deserving teams are handed much better opportunities to better themselves.

    The simple fix would be to adjust a team’s odds by being dropped back. Think of it like how the NFL does compensatory picks, but instead it’s compensatory ball combinations, which improve a team’s odds.

    One could argue that it doesn’t matter over the long run, and it’ll all even out, but with how franchise changing some picks can be, a string of bad luck can set a franchise back for a generation of fans.

    I think we’ve done alright.
