Une source bien connectée dit à Cloutier (TVA) que Michkov pourrait être soumis au chantage de SKA pour qu’il reste jusqu’en 2028

    Gotta get clicks somehow

Lol, ***suuuuuure***. His « well-connected » source was probably part of the human centipede he’s part of that collectively makes Montreal sports media. Fuck ’em all

Jfc the draft cant happen soon enough

I’m surprised by the dismissive comments.

Russian teams are known to do this. Romanov was repeatedly told, « If you want more ice time, then sign an extension. » ~~Romanov was playing for the same team (CSKA) that owns Michkov’s rights. They’ll likely do the same to Michkov, or worse.~~ (EDIT: I mixed CSKA and SKA.)

This is why I view positively Michkov’s « character problems. » He got labeled with those when he forced to be loaned to another team who’d give him ice time. To me, it means he’ll fight to play in the NHL when the times comes and won’t allow himself to be bullied into compliance. Heck, it might mean he’ll defect if the situation gets too bad for him.

This is the same clickbait that people used last year for wright vs Slaf

now to get click they will write anything on Michkov

  6. idontplaypolo

It will be funny when he gets picked at #2 or 3

If this was 100% true and he would 100% come over in 2028, I would still do it. You would be adding prime Michkov to a (hopefully) contender lineup who hopefully has their goalie situation sorted out.

If you’re struggling with this ask yourself, would you draft Bedard if it meant he won’t play for you for the next 3-5 years? If the answer is yes, then you draft Michkov, he’s that good of a player

It’s a common practice for KHL teams but besides reducing his ice time what can they really do ?

Let them blackmail him, it will just make him leave quicker like it did with Romanov.

The nice little loophole is that Michkov can end his contract if he pays it out with SKA (without help from the NHL team).

Apparently the rules say nothing about sponsors. He can sign a sponsorship agreement with a company, which pays him and then he in turn payoff the contract.

Wouldn’t touch this kid with a 10 foot pole.

  11. I wonder if the people calling « clickbait » on this are the same ones who called « clickbait » last year on the rumors that the Habs were hesitating between Wright/Slafkovsky.

  12. jimhabfan

I think the Arizona Coyotes are trying to convince us not to take Michkov.

  13. RoboticAnatomy

I’ve been wondering for a few months now, what the odds are that he ‘defects’ before his contract is over? Waiting until 2026 to have him in NA will make him drop, having to wait until 2028 would make slide even further.

Maybe he wants to come to NA sooner with the recent, tragic passing of his father? Obviously I know nothing of his situation, but you’ve got to feel for the kid.

You understand that Russian hockey organizations have and keep all the dirt on their player?

Imagine the dirt hockey Canada had to deal with their player and multiply that with Russian culture.

If Mitchkov have enough of the Russian way, he could end up in the NHL earlier than we think. NHL and KHL don’t have agreement anymore… He could just flee and show up this summer.

  15. maplemoose18

Guys… we’re not getting Michkov. He’s going to the Sharks. As much as I want to see it happen. It’s a pipe dream.

  16. TheHockeyDude14

Maybe in 2028 people will have stop thinking that TVA is a trust worthy source

  17. 88Sephiroth88

Another KHL team did something similar to Malkin by forcing him to sign an extension. His passport was even taken from him. But he did get out though when his agent « smuggled » him out of the team when the former had to play a game in Finland (hence why they had to return the passport).

  18. WintertimeLivingEasy

Dynamo Moscow tried to keep Ovechkin, and look where he’s playing now.

Of course they don’t want one of the highest potential prospect to leave.

  19. PhillipThePlatypus

Despite the fact that michkov is an obvious choice at #5, Bobrov is “well-connected” enough that we knows exactly how Michkov is feeling and what the actual risk is. As other posts say, if you have a guaranteed elite winger in 5 years it’s still worth drafting now, especially since we are early rebuild. I actually think he’s gone by 5 so this is meaningless, but whoever is left at 5 out of THE top 5, we take, simple as that

  20. jairzinho

Then we’ll Evgeni Malkin him out of Russia ffs.

  21. TheNorthernGeek

    2028 is a long way off…

  22. lentpoule

Idk why but I feel like this whole situation will forge his character.. imaging having to deal with this kind of bs at his age.

  23. SkuL23

I feel that we all keep hearing some speculation. We wont know more until the week prior to the draft. I wanna hear what Bobrov have to say

  24. TonyComputer1

I wouldnt be surprised if there were backlash from the team that drafts him.
I think ultimately every team in the NHL is still more powerful financially than the KHL so….
