We don’t know how the next series or the one after that if we get there will go. We don’t know if we’re going to wish we had done more at the deadline, and there will be a time and place to debate that. But to speak to your point OP, we absolutely know the following:
Islanders move for Horvat and Engvall: they are sitting at home.
Rangers move for Tarasenko and Kane: they are sitting at home.
Devils sell out for Timo: they are sitting at home.
Bruins load up Bertuzzi, Orlov, and Hathaway on top of their already best-ever team: they are sitting at home.
Leafs go for quantity with O’Reilly, Acciari, McCabe, Lafferty, Gustafsson, and Schenn: hanging by a thread, likely to be sitting at home by next week.
Lightening, Avs, and Jets also made notable moves: sitting at home.
Edmonton sells out for Ekholm and Vegas gets Quick and arguably overpays for Barbashev: one of these two will be sitting at home.
Dallas: Only move of note is Domi at relatively fair expense, closest of four remaining West teams to advancing.
Panthers: No moves. One game away from ECF.
Us: One relatively modest depth move at defense and a dirt cheap reclamation project. Waiting for Florida in the ECF with home ice advantage.
This is a big reminder to anyone paying attention that winning the trade deadline and winning meaningful hockey games are not automatically causally related.

I totally called it wrong and thought we whiffed not bringing someone else on. I am glad I’m wrong and this is the best version of this meme yet.
