I really would like to see the Ducks become competitive again

If the CBJ could bolster their defensive pairings, add another goalie, and just stay healthy they could be pretty good. They scored just fine this year, they just gave up way too many goals.

I hope the ducks bring back that logo full time. Light years better than the duck foot 😂

The Habs. Next year.

Columbus and ducks, maybe Arizona. Lot of young talent on all three teams just depends on when they all come into their own

If Anaheim uses their old logo and colors then they will. Look good play good.

The Yotes are a fascinating team in that they were an impressive 21-15-5 at home and a dismal 7-25-9 on the road. Anaheim is probably the furthest away. Sharks & Blue Jackets also a long way away. The Blackhawks could get there quickly with Bedard and $41M in cap space but they’ll have to have to be smart with how they spend it given that they have a ton of holes to fill. Montreal has a pretty solid young core in place, but not a ton of money to improve the team. They have the benefit of being in a division with the Bruins & Lightning likely falling off a bit given their Cap concerns.

It pains me to say it, but mtl seems to be doing the right things with their roster Jeff Gorton is responsible for alot of the product we saw nyr put on the ice this year and I feel like he is a good fit for an expedited rebuild.
They’re a goalie and some experience away I think. Solid prospects constantly coming up through their system lately.

Columbus, they are not really rebuilding, their players are further along and they are in a division where some of the rivals to a postseason ticket is on the downhill slope, unlike in the Pacific and the Atlantic. Defense is an issue and the lack of good two-way forwards another so they have some work ahead of them.
I have a hard time seeing Ducks breakthrough right now against Vegas, Edmonton, Kings, Seattle and even a still competitive Calgary. The same goes for Canadians in their division, it’s pure brutality and they also need to figure out the same things as Columbus.

It’s been fun to watch all the former sharks take their teams to the conference semifinals. Meier, Burns, Pavelski, DeBoer. Fun times.

Realistically, I see Montreal or Anaheim. It’s only a matter of time before the kids step up. Columbus would most likely be in that conversation, too, probably even sooner than the last two, now that i think about it. You can’t keep Johnny Hockey out of the show for too long. Arizona is a close fourth. You’d have to think they end the drought sooner rather than later. Sure, Chicago won the Bedard sweepstakes, but if you’ve seen any interview with Kyle Davidson after the fact, he’s very committed to sticking with a 5 year rebuild and letting the players dictate how much faster that goes. It takes more than one superstar to build an NHL team, and they need to support their young guys with good mentors before they fully take over.
I’m sorry, San Jose fans, you’re the least likely in my eyes.

CBJ. Plagued by injuries. Offense is fine with Johnny and Kent Johnson/Marchenko showing scoring power. They need to tweak defense. Werenski back health and Jirichek blossoming are key. Have to get stability in net. Window on Caps and Penguins are closing.

CBJ or Anaheim. CBJ just had awful luck with injuries this year.

Anaheim or CBJ if they can actually do something that can rival the Gudreau signing in terms of coaching (PLEASE HIRE JUKKA JALONEN)

AZ isn’t “rebuilding” lol, name a time in their history when they were considered “built”. This is their standard annual form.

I want Arizona in the Finals so we can watch a Stanley Cup final hosted in their temporary stadium

we gotta remember that Columbus this season was absolutely wrecked by injuries. they could use some pieces, sure, but they’re close enough to be in front of the others (except maybe Montreal)
XxNHLxX
If Columbus grabs Carlsson in this draft, I think they are absolutely the favorites to make the playoffs first out of these teams. Getting Werenski back and Elvis likely not possibly being as bad as he was means they can only improve next season. Throw another big guy who’s likely NHL ready into the mix with Laine/Gaudreau and you’re cooking. Not saying they will be a contender by any means, but the other teams listed are likely atleast 2-3 years out depending on how quickly their top prospects develop.
